Principal's Corner
Family,

HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome back to what I know is going to be OUR BEST YEAR YET!!!!!

But wait...So often, when a new year rolls in, people begin by making new year resolutions which tend to ignore and sometimes discredit their accomplishments from the previous year...Well, not me:)  Family, we have a lot to celebrate.
  • The MAP data is in. In terms of meeting growth targets, KVP scholars outperformed their regional peers in 1st grade Math (meeting half of their Spring-to-Spring target) and in 2nd grade Reading and Math (meeting Fall-to-Winter targets). Our scholars, teachers and YOU have worked so hard to ensure that your scholars were not just prepared to meet expectations, but to exceed them.
  • "Congratulations to KIPP Vision Primary School on being named a Family-Friendly Partnership School Finalist!  The Georgia Department of Education Parent Engagement Program is excited for your school and district!" That's right! KIPP Vision Primary School is one of eight schools in the entire state to demonstrate that we are a Family-Friendly Partnership School.  Why?  Excellent Question. At KIPP Vision Primary School, we see our parents as partners and have gone to great lengths to ensure that you have the information needed to support your scholar and can do so in an environment that welcomes you with open arms.  The Georgia Department of Education has stood up and taken notice of the fact that we are a special school with special parents and for that I thank you.  Thank YOU for all that you do to support your scholar along this journey.
  • Speaking of special parents. We had 646 people in attendance at our annual Holiday Performance and Fellowship. Can you believe it? The room was filled with KIPP Vision Primary LOVE.  Thank you for ALWAYS being there to support your scholars and our school.
You know you did a good job, so say you did a good job. G -OO (double O) - D J - O - B! Good Job, Good Job!!!!

As we enter into the final stretch, let's agree to continue to reach for excellence TOGETHER.  I believe, no, I know that if we continue to communicate in LOVE, and collaborate in EXCELLENCE, there is absolutely nothing that our scholars won't be able to achieve.

The journey continues,

Steps for a Peaceful Conflict Resolution

1. Cool off.
2. Talk it over starting from "I," not "you."
3. Listen and paraphrase what you heard.
4. Take responsibility for your role in the conflict.
5. Come up with a solution that's fair to each of you.
6. Affirm, forgive, thank, or apologize.
7. Treat each other with respect; no blaming or put-downs.
8. Attack the problem, not the person.
9. No interrupting, negative faces or body language.
10. Be willing to compromise.
11. Have the courage to tell the truth in a respectful way.
