Dream Team,

13 years ago, after spending close to 15 years in the public health arena, I packed my bags and went out in search of education equality for ALL. Growing up, my mom had to walk blocks to find a great school for my sisters and I.  Being poor, black, and immigrants meant that we were zoned to a school where there were bars on the doors and windows and academic excellence was not discussed... Surely, things had changed since then?  What I found was that they had not!!!!  Despite the progress and strides that we have made as a country, the quality of education and academic "experience" met by students is STILL determined by their zip code, social economic status and in some cases by the hue of their skin...That is simply unacceptable! So I had a dream...

I had a dream...

I dreamed of a place where scholars walked around with their heads held high, spoke boldly and knew that no matter where they came from, THEY could be anything and do anything and some day change the world.  I dreamed of a place where like minded educators joined forces with committed families and created an atmosphere of hope for their scholars. A place where EXCELLENCE was not just something that people said, but EXCELLENCE was something that people lived.  I dreamed of KVP!

Family, THANK YOU! I set out to create a school that will ultimately change the trajectory of each and every scholar that walks through the door and TOGETHER we have created that place and I AM SO THANKFUL!

The journey continues,
