Important 7th Grade Information- C5 Applications
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are so excited that your student has been nominated to be a part of C5 Georgia Youth Foundation! Too often, high-performing young people fail to achieve what they are capable of achieving because of multiple reasons: they lack support, opportunities, adequate direction or motivation. C5 Georgia provides a support network and 5 years of enriching experiences designed to support talented youth who have the drive to be successful, but who may lack resources to access the experiences that will fully prepare them for college and career.

During this selection process, seventy-two students will be selected for C5 Georgia out of approximately 500 applications. Your student has been invited to fill out an application for C5 Georgia, which includes family information, school information, an essay and 2 reference forms. Please help and encourage your student to turn in this application by the application deadline. The application deadline has been extended to December 2, 2015.

The interview process will include an individual as well as a group interview. Interviews will be held at different locations on scheduled dates around the Atlanta area.

C5 Georgia is a 5-year leadership program. C5 requires that selected students commit to all 5 years of the program. The commitment consists of a summer experience each summer, completing community service and meeting three to four times throughout the school year. Please see The C5 Georgia Youth Foundation Experience handout for more information.

While C5 Georgia is a student program, family support is critical to the success of each student. Families are asked to help provide snacks, help chaperone events, provide transportation for their students to year-round events and to meet the bus for each summer experience. C5 Georgia staff are often in contact with the families to make sure the needs of their student are being met.

MAPping the Road to College
KVA scholars will be taking their Winter MAP Assessment this week beginning Thursday, November 19th (and the testing window will last until December 4th) . The MAP is a computer-based assessment that measures growth toward college readiness, in which every scholar has an opportunity to shine! To celebrate scholars' effort on the MAP as well as get them excited to do their best we will be having a week of special dress up days. Below is a description of each day of Spirit Week:

Friday (November 20th)- Professional Dress Day (Scholars  dress like the professionals they will one day be)
Monday (November 23rd)- Beyond Typical (Scholars will show their originality and ability to think outside the box by dressing in a nontraditional way. We ARE NOT conforming to TYPICAL Growth!!!)
Tuesday (November 24th)- Dress like your Future Profession (Scholars show what they want to be when they grow up by dressing like a professional they want to be in the future).

**
