Weekly Bulletin | On Tuesday, September 29, 2015, your scholar should bring home their Tuesday packet. This week's Tuesday packet includes the weekly paycheck and grade report. Please return the signature page on Wednesday, as it will be collected in homeroom.

KIPPster Support Conferences | 
We cannot believe it is the end of the first quarter already! As we prepare for the second quarter, it is important that we take the time to review the last quarter and ensure that we are ready to end this semester in excellence.
Family-teacher conferences will be extended to all families, but are MANDATORY for all scholars that have failed two, or more classes in the first quarter. The conferences will be held October 13th and 15th between 4:20PM and 6:30PM.
Below you will find the link to schedule a conference with your scholar's grade level team. Please access the link below and under the <Table View> tab write your scholar's name in an open time slot. Each time has four openings so that you are able to pick a time that best works for you.

Social Studies and Science Benchmarks |
Scholars will be completing the Science and Social Studies benchmarks during the week of September 28-October 2. Science benchmarks will be given on Monday, September 28. Social Studies benchmarks will be given on Tuesday, September 29. Please ensure that your scholars are present and on time each day.

Homecoming Activities

From September 28 - October 2, 2015, KVA scholars will be celebrating homecoming by participating in Spirit Week. This is an exciting chance for scholars to show their school spirit!! To encourage a sense of community and school pride, we will be having a week of special dress up days. Below is a description of each day of Spirit Week:
Monday, September 28th - Twin Day
KVA celebrates the college they are aspiring toward by wearing college T-shirts

Scholars are permitted to dress like another scholar.
*Students are invited to dress like another scholar. Jeans are NOT permitted on this day and students are not permitted to bring props or anything that may disturb the learning environment.

Tuesday, September 29th - College Day
KVA celebrates the college they are aspiring toward by wearing college T-shirts

Scholars are invited to wear any college T-shirt they would like.
*Students must be in full uniform other than wearing their college T-shirt.

Wednesday, September 30th - Wacky Tacky Day
KVA celebrates our scholars' individuality and uniqueness.
|
Students will show their originality and ability to think outside the box by dressing in a nontraditional way.
*Students are invited to wear mismatch clothing and display their originality by dressing as uniquely as they can think of. Jeans are NOT permitted on this day and students are not permitted to bring props or anything that may disturb the learning environment.

Thursday, October 1st - Throwback Thursday
Students celebrate the unique style of past decades (70s and 80s)

Students will pay tribute to the unique fashion and style of the 70s and 80s.
*Jeans are NOT permitted on this day and students are not permitted to bring props or anything that may disturb the learning environment.

Friday, October 2nd - Spirit Day
|
Students will show their school spirit by wearing black and green!
*Students are invited to wear earned KVA shirts or regular shirts that are black and/or green. Students are encouraged to get creative to show their school spirit. There will be a PRIZE for the student from each grade level whose attire shows the most school spirit. Jeans are NOT permitted on this day (5th- 7th ONLY) and students are not permitted to bring props or anything that may disturb the learning environment. NOTE: 8th graders ARE permitted to wear jeans on this day.

Gifted and Talented Program |
The Gifted and Talented Program at KIPP Vision Academy provides differentiated instruction for the intellectually advanced and creatively gifted student. Gifted services are available for all eligible students in grades 5th-8th.
According to Georgia Board Rule 160-4-2-.38, a gifted and talented student is defined as one who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies), exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic fields, and who needs special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at levels which commensurate with his or her ability(ies).
Parents are able to refer and grant permission for their child to be tested for gifted services. If you are interested in referring your child for testing, please complete the Gifted and Talented Permission to Test Form on the following APS website. http://www.atlantapublicschools.us/Page/21037.
