Count Down to American Promise!
Family,
We are less than a month away from our Dinner and a Movie date...
The film, American Promise, examines the ins and outs of familial relationships, as parents push for success and boys struggle to find their own identities, plus the challenges and tragedies that life brings along the journey. At stake, beyond the challenges of being white or black in America, is the meaning of success in our country. "All American families want to give their children the opportunity to succeed. But the truth is, opportunity is just the first step, particularly for families raising black boys," says co-director and co-producer Michèle Stephenson. "We hope American Promise shines a light on these issues."
Please join me on Friday, October 16; 6:00 - 8:30 pm. Bring your spouse, significant other, and the kids. Gently remind all of the parents in your homeroom GroupME to show up and take advantage of this time to fellowship face to face. The scholars will watch a movie of their own in their classrooms (bring a sleeping bag if you'd like). It's a family affair and it's all about staying informed and doing what's BEST for our babies. I hope to see you there!
So, who's joining me for an evening of family fun, food, a great movie and some powerful discussion?
My scholar _____________________ is in ___________________ homeroom and we will see you at the movies. I will be bringing _____ guest.
See you at the movies. The Journey continues.
With my whole heart,
Dr. Wheda A. Carletos, Ph.D.
