Family,
It's the same feeling that you get when you send your child off to summer camp. You know that they are in loving hands, but you still lay awake wondering what they are doing and praying that they are taking care of themselves. While you are grateful for the time that you get to sit in a quiet house (in my case, a very quiet school), you can't wait to see their smiling faces and hear their little voices again. Yes, I have been sitting on pins and needles all summer waiting to see my children. Well family, I am so excited to have all 310 of my scholars together again. WOW! Three hundred scholars, can you believe it!? What started as a vision of excellence two years ago, is now the number one performing elementary school in Atlanta and we have 300+ of the best and brightest scholars under one roof.
As we begin this leg of the journey, as we've always done in the past, we have set very high academic and character goals for our scholars and we know that they can do it! What we've learned throughout this journey is that in order to meet those goals, our scholars have to understand the importance of "growing their brains"; they have to be ready for the intensity of a longer school day; they have to be ready to reach for excellence in all that they do and most of all, they need YOUR support. That's right, in order to go as far as they can, they are going to need you to take this journey along with them.
Thank you in advance for your continued support and for your commitment to doing whatever it takes to ensure that your scholar succeeds. I look forward to a journey where as partners we work TOGETHER to get YOUR scholar to and through college and then off to CHANGE THE WORLD. It's going to be an EXCELLENT ride!!!! With my whole heart,
Dr. Wheda A. Carletos, Ph.D.

EARLY DISMISSAL
In order to ensure that our transition for dismissal is smooth and all scholars are accounted for, early dismissals will end at 12:30 p.m. during summer school. During the traditional school year, early dismissals will end at the following times:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday- 3:00 p.m. Wednesday- 2:00 p.m. Early Release Days- 12:30 p.m.
If you are checking your scholar out early, you or a person from your scholar's authorized pick-up list, will come to the front office with a state/government-issued ID and use the kiosk to check them out. A staff member will use the ID to confirm that you (or your designee) are on the authorized pick-up list. Once identity has been confirmed, the scholar will be called to the front office to be released to their parent or an individual on the authorized pick-up list. |
Thank you for your patience as we work to accommodate over 400 families who pick up their scholars using the carpool lane. We are working diligently to refine the process and ensure that it is as efficient as possible. As we work on processes, please help us by doing the following:
- Come to the front office to get a carpool tag if you don't have one. You will not be able to use carpool tags from last school year.
- Come to the front office to get a sticker to go on your carpool tag if you don't have one. Someone will also be passing them out to parents during morning arrival on Wednesday morning.
- Display your carpool tag at all times when using the carpool lane.
- If you have more than one scholar at KVP and they have different carpool numbers, email Ms. Moon at krmoon@kippvisionacademy.org.
- Ensure that your car is ready to receive your scholar in the afternoons (car seat is in place, clear any items that will make it difficult for them to enter, etc.
- If you are sending someone to pick up your scholar, please give them your carpool tag. If you are unable to do so, please ensure that the person is on your scholar's authorized pick-up list and that they have their ID. To add someone to the authorized pick-up list, please do so 24 business hours in advance.
- You can do this in person in the office (must have your ID)
- Car riders will only be released from the designated carpool area. Please do NOT park and come into the building to pick up car riders.
