Honoring our dads for Father's Day

This past weekend, Elizabeth Seeger Jolly celebrated the memory of her father at the 10th anniversary party of her thriving leather business, Satchel. Part of the evening's proceeds benefited Hospice Savannah and the heart hospital at St. Joseph's. Mr. Seeger had been a TWA pilot and the evening had a vintage airline theme - replete with his favorite cocktails! Elizabeth and Mom (Center) are pictured with Vernice Rackett, St. Joseph's/Candler Foundations, and Hospice Savannah Foundation's Ophelia Rodriguez (R). Reach Ophelia at 912.229.1027 for suggestions on how to make a gift to honor or remember your Dad this Father's Day.
Happy Birthday Hospice Savannah!

We turn 37 on June 11 and, in celebration, many of our generous supporters will hold Summer Nights parties to help us raise awareness and much needed funding. Homecare volunteer Faye (pictured above as she plays at Hospice House) and fellow Midtown Pickers will host their Summer Nights party this Saturday, June 11 from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at bar.food and coffee.deli in Habersham Village. There will be food, music and lots of silent auction items - the public is warmly invited. The party is in memory of Susan (Deason) Sherard and Ace Harris. Click here for more information on Summer Nights.

Many of us have read Dr. Atul Gawande's best-selling book about what matters most to patients and families facing difficult treatment decisions and how to have these conversations ahead of a medical crisis. Please join us for a
free screening and discussion of the PBS FRONTLINE film "Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End" on Friday, June 17 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Demere Center for Living, 6000 Business Center Drive.
Who will Care for the Family Caregiver?

We appreciate Gabrielle Ware's GPB broadcast on the issues facing family caregivers. Take a listen! As she points out, our Edel Caregiver Institute is the only institute in the state providing hands-on training to caregivers. Additionally, we offer a full array of supportive classes - including the wonderfully relaxing restorative yoga pictured above. If you, or someone you know is struggling with caring for a loved one, please share this resource with them. More information can be found on our website, or call 912.629.1331.
Memorial and Tribute Gifts received in May

Gifts made "in memory of" or "in honor of" a loved one are a meaningful way to remember or honor someone special. In addition to thanking the donor, we send a letter to the family member or honoree informing them a donation has been made. Click here to read the list of those honored and remembered during May.

Motor Cycling Grandma!

Varoooom! Our 108-year-young patient wanted a bike ride! She enjoyed one last year but complained it wasn't long enough....So this year she and some fellow  Bryan County Health & Rehab. residents rode to Hooter's for chicken wings!
