Please join painter Randy Akers and sculptor Fran Kaminsky between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. for their opening reception in our Gallery this Thursday. A nationally acclaimed artist, Randy will show textural abstract paintings from four bodies of work, including The Secret Quilt Codes of the Underground Railroad based on research from the First African Baptist Church in Savannah. Fran, a long-time Hospice Savannah supporter and current Foundation board chair, has been sculpting for 12 years and will show five of her recent bronze pieces.

Accepting applications for Camp Aloha now
The death of a parent, sibling or friend can be an isolating experience for a child. They may feel different and removed from their peers, thinking they are the only one to feel emptiness and loss. Camp Aloha (April 29 - May 1 in Effingham County) is a powerfully healing weekend of grief work and fun that helps children and teens realize they are not alone. Informational videos and registration forms are available at this link, or call Full Circle bereavement counselor Barbara Moss at 912.303.9442.

Edel Caregiver Institute featured in Catholic Health World magazine
The ground-breaking help being offered at our Edel Caregiver Institute is featured in an article in this month's Catholic Health World. Read the full article here. As reporter Betsy Taylor writes, "more than 42 million family caregivers nationwide provide unpaid care for aging loved ones each year, so that the person they're caring for can live at home." If you, a friend, co-worker or church member, are in this situation, please know that help is available. A complimentary Caregiving 101 class is offered on the 4th Monday of each month at noon and a monthly Caregiver Support Group follows at 1:15 p.m. Find out more by calling 912.629.1331 or visit the informational web pages at this link.

Thanks Wilmington Island Farmers' Market
We appreciate the Wilmington Island Farmers' Market for selecting us as their April charity. Snacks and drinks will be collected for the "family kitchen" we offer to those visiting their loved ones in Hospice House. The market is held each Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. on the grounds of Islands High School. Another easy way to support Hospice Savannah is through the your local Kroger's Community Rewards program. Simply go online to designate Hospice Savannah, and Kroger will make a donation each time you shop. Here is the link.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Gifts made "in memory of" or "in honor of" a loved one are a meaningful way to remember or honor someone special. In addition to thanking the donor, we send a letter to the family member or honoree informing them a donation has been made. Click here to read the list of those honored and remembered during March. We give special thanks to Loren Laney (pictured above) and his fellow stylists at Savannah's Brandy George Salon who held a cut-a-thon last month to benefit Hospice Savannah in memory of Loren's dad. We encourage you to find creative ways like this to support our various programs and services!
