"The grasshopper's horn, and far-off, high in the maples,
The wheel of a locust leisurely grinding the silence
Under a moon waning and worn, broken,
    Tired with summer."
~ Sara Teasdale

It started gaining momentum two weeks ago, and now it's like little tornadoes hit the fiction section every time someone starts talking about how much they loved this one.  In our store, it's almost completely customer driven, aka word of mouth.

The Slow Regard of Silent Things by Patrick Rothfus

If you've read the first two books in the Kingkiller Chronicles, you will remember Auri, the reclusive girl who lives in the secret hallways and recesses of The University.  Surely, you wanted to know more about her?  Your wish will be granted, October 28.

If you just want a "feel good" read between all of the hard hitting stuff, pick up a copy of the latest Father Timothy.

Stories Around the World Series from Capstone

These are all great to curl up with one little one, or more.  A little bit longer than the typical read-aloud, but not too long so that kids will lose interest.  At $7.95 and hardcover, you can choose Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood. (click each to view)

...and if they won't sit for a story time, this one is almost  guaranteed to catch their attention!  Check out the Minecraft pumpkins/gourds/peppers for Halloween!!

By now, you probably know that we sell vinyl records and turntables in our lower level.  We've also brought in some special items in this section that just might fit that "person who has everything" gift category.  -I know you don't want to think about it, but there are now 79 shopping days until Christmas.  I'll give you lots of ideas as the holidays get closer, but this one might be gone by the time you start thinking about shopping, and I just didn't want you to miss it!  Click the image to see a full Beatles film of the product.

For those of you not familiar with Jason Segel, just know he is amazing. He is an actor, musician, singer, songwriter AND screenwriter. I'll be honest, when I heard he was writing a children's trilogy I rolled my eyes... several times. I tried it though and I absolutely loved it! It tells a story that every child can relate to, a story about change and fear and how to conquer them both.
It is up to Charlie Laird and his group of friends to save their town from the nightmares that have been haunting Charlie every night and now have slipped into the waking world. Despite the title, this book is not scary at all. It's a funny mystery, packed with adventure and bravery. Perfect for ages 8-12.

Do you remember the adorable picture book Chopsticks, Little Pea, and Duck Rabbit (click here for a full list)?  Those and more are all Amy Krouse Rosenthal.  She's back again, but this time she's packed her book with magic and sparkles!  No matter what everyone tells him, Uni the Unicorn refuses to believe that little girls don't exist! He knows that somewhere there has to be a smart and wonderful little girl just waiting to be his best friend. It has a simple plot and gorgeous illustrations making it a perfect story time read for little ones.
