New Tools for Family Caregivers!!

"MySage" is a brand new feature of the SageMinder Website that is like your own private dashboard for connecting with family members, setting your health goals and tracking progress, and setting up free text and/or email reminders for yourself and anyone in your family.  You are in control with MySage:

  • A calendar with unlimited text/email reminders for the whole family for future events - recurring or one-time.  These reminders can act as free medication reminders or can be used to encourage, prompt or remind you or your family members about almost anything!
  • A private Family Care Center for communicating to a private group of concerned family and friends about the care of a loved one - share photos, help requests, care journal, updates, and more.
  • Track-its a new type of tool to prompt and remind you to log your progress toward your own health goals!

All this and some articles just in time to get organized and be healthy for the new year!

getting organized

Once you have a better sense of your elderly parent's needs, you can start working on a plan of care at home. You're about to be inundated with more than you ever wanted to know about the

pitfalls of age and infirmity, and it will help if you can organize the relevant information. Some of it is just a matter of gathering information and putting it in a safe place.

As our parents age, remaining independent becomes very important - and safety becomes a number one priority. Everyone's situation is so different - whether your elderly loved one lives alone or with a spouse, or has chronic illnesses or frailty related to natural aging processes. So, there is not a "one-size-fits-all" plan for providing a safe and healthy environment. One thing many seniors do have in common is a desire to stay in their own homes as long as they can. It is the most popular and affordable option for many.

Happy New Year! Time for some minor changes right? You just want to be more organized, less stressed, a better parent/wife/daughter, more fit, out of debt, more successful at work, and thinner? Like this list, we can be a little unrealistic at times. Most of us joke about resolutions because so few of us actually stick to them.

But we ususally start!  Many of us make what I call "pre-changes."  This is where we will go to the store and buy an exercise video or get a book out of the library about how to get out of debt - as if we don't know what we need to do!  We do these "pre-changes" to look like we are doing something, but often we are just buying time.
