  • Alateen Coordinator Update: The R&R Sponsor Weekend was enjoyable, inspirational, renewing! The AMIAS workshop was productive. Three people signed up to become an AMIAS (Al-Anon Member Involved in Alateen Service). Our D14 Alateen Coordinator, Frannie, has quarterly meetings planned. Also, thirteen kids are signed up for NoCAC in November. Drivers are needed & must be AMIAS certified. If you are interested in becoming an AMIAS, please contact Paula, our D14 DAPP (District Alateen Process Person).
Our district is one of the biggest, with the fewest sponsors!

Open District Coordinator positions are shown on the D14 Coordinators list in the sidebar. The following are the current Alternate District Coordinator positions open:
  • Newsletter
  • Public Outreach
  • Telephone Hotline
  • Website
Alternate District Coordinators assist the Coordinator and represent that position at District 14 Business Meetings when needed. It is a great way to serve and learn a new position. If you are interested in giving service for your recovery by standing for a position, review the Guidelines to see what is right for you. Then attend a business meeting to stand for the position.

If you feel you are not ready or cannot commit but would still like to help in some way, you can contact any District or Alternate Coordinator to see how else you can give service!

My Al-Anon journey: going past survival to living a healthy life

I'm constantly looking back on where I've been and why. What appeared as liabilities often turned out to be advantages. Growing up in an alcoholic family was such an example; it was most certainly a liability, until my recovery in Al-Anon turned it into a gift.
...
I wanted 'fix my son'--a father's struggle

I've been coming to Al-Anon meetings for four years, but wished I'd found them years ago. I was not raised in an environment of addiction, but I did marry into one. Addiction ended our marriage and, as a result, I've had custody of our son since he was six years old. Even though we were divorced, we remained close and my son visited with his mother every day. When my son was only 13 years old, I found his mother dead because of her addiction. I never thought that my son would turn to drugs and alcohol, since he knew how addiction had destroyed our family.
...
Turning on the nightlight--learning how to let go

When I first came to Al-Anon, I struggled with the concept of detachment. I was filled with fear and worry for my loved one. The thought of taking a step back from his problems seemed wrong to me. How could I let go at a time when it seemed he needed me most?

Bienvenidos a Al-Anon y Alateen
Recuperación. Unidad. Servicio.

Cómo me ayuda Al-Anon.
