UPDATE #4 for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Fire Management Strategic Workshop's Fredericksburg-Chancellorsville Staff Ride.
If you missed any of our previous e-mail updates, they are posted to our e-mail archive.
Last week we shared images of 6 federal officers -- staff officers -- recommended for your study. Below you'll find 6 confederate officers, with the exception of Cadmus Wilcox, again all staff or supporting arms officers. All of these exercised staff leadership -- there's a concept we can explore a bit. Again, look at their faces and research their names to find out how they contributed to the conduct of operations. Can you relate to any of these leaders? What do you like or dislike about their personalities? Do you like or dislike their leadership style? Are you reminded by your study of these leaders of people in your organization? How did they - how do they - impact their organizations, strategy, and operations?
Note: All these photos represent as closely as possible what these leaders looked like in 1862-1863. Jed Hotchkiss for example is usually shown in photographs as an old man -- not in 1863!
