UPDATE #3 for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Fire Management Strategic Workshop's Fredericksburg-Chancellorsville Staff Ride.

Three weeks until the field study phase of the staff ride!  Three weeks ago you should have received an announcement to guide your preliminary study.  Two weeks ago you should have received our welcome e-mail providing an updated schedule. Last week you should have received Update #2 about some of the chief commanders in these two operations, with some questions to ponder.  If you missed any of these, they are posted to our e-mail archive.

Hopefully the questions in the last e-mail got you thinking a bit. If not, maybe this one will help.  Often we only look at the well-known leaders in major operations.  Often forgotten are subordinate commanders or staff officers who lead people and manage operations with extraordinary skill and courage.  The image below shows the faces and names of six such leaders on the federal side.  Look at their faces and research their names to find out how they contributed to the conduct of operations.  Can you relate to any of these leaders?  What do you like or dislike about their personalities?  Do you like or dislike their leadership style?  Are you reminded by your study of these leaders of people in your organization? How did they - how do they -  impact their organizations, strategy, and operations?

Next week:  six less-known subordinate confederate leaders!

If you have any questions, please contact us by e-mail!

Looking forward to meeting you all!
