Two weeks to go until we travel to Billings for the USFWS Little Bighorn Staff Ride! If you missed our first e-mail, you can read it on our archive page to get some recommendations for preliminary study.
Staff rides are education not training. In education, the
questions
are more important that the answers. Here are some questions to help guide your ongoing preliminary study:
- What were the strategic visions of Tȟatȟ�ŋka �yotake (Sitting Bull) and his counterpart Hiram Ulysses Grant?
- How is the Battle of the Greasy Grass the Last Stand for the Lakota people?
- Are you -- and your organization -- more comfortable with rigid adherence to established law, or the fluid dynamics of changing environments?
- In your personal experience, what are some of the unintended strategic consequences that resulted from tactical actions?
- Have you ever worked with someone whose hubris, ego, or narrow-mindedness became a threat to your organization?
