Alpini Hitch

The Alpini Hitch!

Here's a great hitch most commonly used to control the descent of a litter.  It is fully reversible, and allows a top-roping belayer to safely watch the descent because the pull on the belayer is back toward the anchor.  You won't find mention of this hitch in most knot-tying classes, but we'll be glad to teach you how to tie it and use it.
