Orlando Tragedy

The Cradle of Liberty Scouting family sends its deepest sympathies to the families and victims of the Orlando shooting. It is our collective hope that we can all live our lives by the Scout Oath and Law and that we will show solidarity as Americans guided by the overriding Scout principle that we are accepting of and a friend to all.

Bring-A-Friend to Join the Adventure!
Scouts and Venturers who recruit a friend (or friends!) to join Scouting from January 1 to June 29, 2016 are eligible to receive this fully-embroidered 3" patch with button loop. The application and national registration payment for the new Scout or Venturer must be received by the Cradle of Liberty Council by Wednesday, June 29, 2016 by 4:30 PM. Patches will be mailed to the recruiters by July.

Career Exploring Programs

We deliver character-building experiences and mentorship that allow youth to achieve their full potential in both life and work.

Exploring is a program for young men and women ages 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years old. Exploring's purpose is to provide opportunities to see behind the scenes in some of our area's most visible businesses and popular careers.

Are you part of a business or organization that could benefit from Exploring, or know of one that would?
Please email Aaron Yancey or call 484-654-9264.

Spring Recruitment
We're closing in on our June 30 goal of mid-year membership growth! With everyone's help, we can achieve this important benchmark for the first time in a long time. Two weeks remain to finish recruitment events, complete roster checks to ensure every youth participating is registered, and follow-up with Be-A-Scout leads. Thank you for continuing to deliver the Promise of Scouting! Please make sure to submit all new youth and Webelos-to-Scout transfer applications to the council office as soon as possible.

2016 National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program designed for councils to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

National Youth Leadership Training incorporates the latest leadership ideas and presents fresh, vital and meaningful training for today's Scouts.

The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and what he must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.

Cradle of Liberty Council is offering four National Youth Leadership Training courses in 2016.

Eagle Scout Fundraiser

The Cradle of Liberty Eagle Alumni Committee has released a new "Once an Eagle Always an Eagle" Council shoulder patch with a striking red, white and blue border. The patches are $10 each plus postage and available by using the attached order form. All proceeds support Eagle Scout Scholarships that are awarded each year at the Eagle Dinner. These patches are a great way to recognize a new Eagle Scout or for adult Eagle Scouts to wear on their uniforms.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Cradle of Liberty Council Venturing
Many Boy/Girl Scouts join Venturing for the fun, high adventure activities, and the opportunity to grow and learn with an older age group. 14 - 21 year olds work in a COED environment to plan and carry out the activities that they choose. Male and female advisors support these efforts, but the youth decide what they want to do and how they will make it happen.

The VOA (Venturing Officers Association) is open to all Venturers. Meetings are held from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM the first Tuesday of each month at Scout Headquarters in Valley Forge. At these meetings, trip ideas are shared, friends are made, and the VOA Spring Weekend is planned. Venturing Adults are invited to participate in the advisor roundtable meeting across the hall at the same time.
