Roosevelt District Posts two out of five VOA Officers

The Cradle of Liberty Council Venturing Officers' Association has presented the 2016-2017 VOA Officers at the VOA Extravaganza, an annual event held each year at Camp Hart, on April 23rd. We at Roosevelt District congratulate all of the new VOA Officers.  However we would like to extend personal congratulations to two of our own who were elected by their peers across the council to be officers for the upcoming year.

Avery Sytsma, of Crew 1776, is the new President of the Cradle of Liberty Council VOA.
Jon Basciano, also of Crew 1776, is the new Treasurer for the Cradle of Liberty Council VOA.

Please join us in congratulating these Venturers as they lead Venturing council wide, and begin planning the 2017 VOA Extravaganza, a council wide weekend event for Venturers.  We certainly wish them the absolute best.

PARTNERS WITH
CORA SERVICES FAMILY FESTIVAL 4/23/16 for RECRUITING

On Saturday April 23, from 11:30 to 3:00 PM CORA Family Services at 8540 Veree Rd. in spite of morning showers held their annual Family Festival. The day started out on the inside, and as the weather cleared the party moved out side. Despite the weather the event was well attended by many young families looking for a day of fun and entertainment for their children, which included inflatables, games, music, food, fun and informational activities. Theresa Kuhar DE of Roosevelt District spearheaded the initiative for Scout recruiting, quickly joined by Stephanie Marcinkowski District Chairman and Art Thompson Recruiting Chairman. As the day went on the family's came out with the sun. The Scouts attending were complemented by CORA for the leadership they displayed, and how delighted they were to have their service. Parents, children and CORA were appreciative of the District's informational Scouting Exhibit that brought the knowledge of Scouting activities, to another level. Scouts this day were held in AWE and great respect.

CORA Services continues to meet community needs by providing education, counseling, and referral services. Now take a tour of the Districts efforts and meet the people who enjoyed it.

District Service Weekend

March 18-20 was our district's annual work weekend. A weekend that Roosevelt should take a lot of pride in since we are the only district in our council who has one. Our job was to help prepare Camp Garrison to be open. Our task were cleaning each of the sites and making sure they are properly stocked, fixing the fence post in the parking lot, trimming the tree lines, and reinstalling doors to some of the restrooms. We had three units volunteer this year, all of which had a blast. It a tiring but fun weekend. A big thank you to Mick Davis who organized the weekend, Mark Davis who worked with the Ranger to come up with our task, the Kitchen crew who kept us well fed with good food!!!, and the boys and leaders worked hard completing the task.
