Greetings from the District Executive

Good Morning Conestoga!

My name is Jarred S. Barnes and I am proud to write to you as your new District Executive. As I start this new endeavor, I wanted to give you all a bit about my background. I come from the Pittsburgh area, namely Port Vue (close to McKeesport) where in 2008 I earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 57. From there, I made it to the eastern part of the Commonwealth to study Political Science at Lehigh University - where I completed my B.A. in 2013 and my M.A. in December of 2014.

I am now honored to serve the Conestoga District and the Cradle of Liberty Council as a whole. It is exciting to see the promise and the number of units within our district and the numerous volunteers such as yourselves whom are teaching the ideals of Scouting to the youth in the Philadelphia Area. I know how important these ideals are to me and how important they are to the growth of young men and women you mentor.

With that being said, there are many exciting events coming our way in the Cradle of Liberty Council.  These include Rocket into Scouting, our fall membership campaign and our annual Trail's End Popcorn Fundraiser. As well, I know many of you are out and about at summer camps/activities and I would relish the opportunity to visit and get to know more about your unit. I ask too that any information or advice you can pass my way would be greatly appreciated. In turn, please feel free to email or call me with any questions you may have!

Till then, please be on the lookout for information from me in regards to the aforementioned events, information regarding the new Pennsylvania Youth Protection Training/Guidelines and all that is scouting in the Conestoga District.

Take care and I hope to meet you all soon.

Yours in Scouting,

Jarred S. Barnes | District Executive
