Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law

Recently the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania passed a new law known as the Child Protective Services Law. The intent of this law is to protect the youth of Pennsylvania. All youth serving organizations within the Commonwealth are covered under this new law. Volunteers, registered and unregistered, in the Cradle of Liberty Council are affected in two ways; we are mandated child abuse reporters and required to provide background check clearances.

Please visit our information page at for more information and for the steps volunteers need to take in order to get clearances and submit them to the Cradle of Liberty Council.

Unami Lodge, One 100th Anniversary

On a warm summer night on July 16, 1915 young Scouts were inducted into a unique organization that has grown to more than one million members. Today we call this organization the Order of the Arrow. It was founded by Dr. E. Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson at Treasure Island Scout Camp on the Delaware River, which is in our council. This year on July 16, 2015, Unami Lodge will celebrate 100 years of service to the Cradle of Liberty Council, BSA.

On May 29 to 31, 2015, Unami Lodge will host the NE5B Conclave, which is a gathering of other lodges in our area, to celebrate our past 100 years and to look forward to the next 100. If you are an Unami Lodge member and would like to join in this celebration, then go to If you are not a member of Unami Lodge, One but would like to attend, then go to At the conclave we will be doing the normal conclave activities, like training, indian dance and ceremony competition. But we will also have a history museum, an audible tour of Treasure Island, and the National Order of the Arrow will begin its ArrowTour at Rescia Falls on Sunday, May 31, 2015. For more information on ArrowTour, go to

If you can't make the conclave weekend but would like to still celebrate our 100th anniversary, then come up on Sunday afternoon and still see the history museum, and a reenactment of the original ceremony which was done on that warm night at Treasure Island on July 16, 1915. You will still be able to visit the ArrowTour from the National Order of the Arrow. For more information about our Sunday celebration, go to

Shooting Sports Summit - Thursday, May 14

There will be a general meeting of all persons interested in the various aspects of "shooting sports" on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 7:30.
We have several rooms reserved at the Firestone Service Center in Wayne. It was almost two years ago that we came together to re-organize and re-energize the Shooting Sports Committee. We formed sub-committees and laid out an agenda. We accomplished many of our targeted goals and the overall assessment is very positive - We have done great things, and want your help to further our progress!

The shooting sports umbrella in Scouting is a large one covering the traditional rifle, shotgun, pistol and blackpowder genres as well as archery, BB guns and tomahawk - from Cub Scouts to traditional troops and ships to Venture crews. There are scouters and friends of our troops who have expertise or interest in each of these areas. Please spread the word at troop/pack committee meetings and at district committee and Roundtables and invite them to join us.
