Silver Beaver Nominations

Deadline Extended

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest national award presented by a local council to individuals for noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth. Each local council may present only a limited number of Silver Beavers each year, which makes this a very prestigious award for those whose record of service to youth is most outstanding!

Nominations must be received by January 15, 2015. Please click here for more information >

2014 Scouting for Food & Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thank You for Helping Those In Need!

Thank you to the hundreds of Scouts, adults and family members throughout the Cradle of Liberty Council who supported the Annual Scouting for Food Drive and the 6abc Dunkin' Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Please make sure that a representative from your unit completes the online survey to let us know how much food you collected. Please contact your district Scouting for Food chair, district professional or if you have any questions.

Service Hour Reporting

Please don't forget that one of the objectives on the unit Journey to Excellence (JTE) scorecard deals with service projects. Giving back to the community goes to the heart of what Scouting is all about, and reporting your unit's service hours helps us share a compelling story with the community about the impact that you and your Scouts make each and every year. It'll also help your unit "Go for the Gold" when it comes to the JTE program.

So please make sure to log in to the Service Hours website before the year is out (preferably by the end of November if you can) and let us know about how your unit helped with the blood drive, Scouting for Food, Eagle projects, and all other service projects conducted throughout 2014.

 Cub Scout Camp Promotions

Are you and your Cubs looking forward to another exciting summer of activities? Look no further than the Cradle of Liberty Council camping opportunities. We offer everything from a week of day camp in your local area to a half or full-week resident camp where the boys can sleepover at camp!

Schedule a promotion night and our trained promotion team will come to your meeting with updated information about camp, fliers and plenty of camp excitement. The presentation only takes about 10-15 minutes, and is sure to get your Cubs excited about attending camp!

Contact John Bickel at to schedule your camp promotion!

If you loved your experience at camp last summer, we hope you will join us in spreading the good word about camp by helping as a camp promoter! If you want to help spread the word, contact John Bickel.

Boy Scout Summer Camp at Rescia Falls

Resica Falls Logo

We are making preparations for next summer after a successful 2014 summer camp season. Our theme is the Wild West, so gather your boots, jeans and cowboy hats!

We are revising our Dan Beard first-year camper schedule and modifying our merit badge schedule as well. We will offer 67 merit badges this year. New badges include skating, plant science, oceanography, American cultures, and metalwork (replacing plumbing).

Plans are underway to add beach volleyball, human foosball, and a half-court basketball surface.

We appreciate your past support and hope you will consider a return trip this summer. If you haven't joined us at Resica Falls recently, please consider us for your troop's summer camp adventure. Reservations are being made now; call Tracy at 484-654-9213 or to reserve a week. If you are rotating this year, send us a friend!

Friends of Scouting

Pay your 2014 Pledge Online

Because of the continued support from Scouters, parents, businesses, and members of the community, 2014 was a great year for the Cradle of Liberty Council! Your support truly helped us deliver the promise of an outstanding program for our Scouts.

Next year is shaping up to be another exciting year for Scouting in the Delaware Valley. With your continued support, we can and will succeed. If you made a Friends of Scouting pledge in 2014 and have not had the opportunity to fulfill your commitment, please send a check to the Cradle of Liberty Council or pay your 2014 pledge online.

2015 Campaign

The 2015 Friends of Scouting campaign will be underway shortly. Friends of Scouting is the annual campaign where Scouters, parents, alumni, and community members are asked to financially support Scouting in the Cradle of Liberty Council.

The true cost of Scouting is much greater than what local dues and event or camping fees cover. Yearly registration fees directly support the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America and help provide program development and research, literature, and local council support. The Cradle of Liberty Council uses contributions made through the annual Friends of Scouting campaign to:

  • Maintain camp properties and a service center.
  • Organize new Scouting units and support existing ones.
  • Provide professional support and leader training.
  • Distribute program resources and regular communications.
  • Organize activities and events.
  • Offset general liability insurance costs to chartered organizations.
  • Criminal background checks for adult leaders.

Each unit is asked to schedule a presentation date for this campaign during the months of January, February and March. If your unit hasn't scheduled a presentation yet, please firm-up a date over the next several weeks so district volunteers to have enough time to plan for the campaign. Your unit FOS coordinator may schedule a presentation by contacting your district Family FOS chair or your district professional, or may schedule your unit's presentation online by completing a short form.

Thank you for your support!
