Scouting for Life Blood Drive
|
We Need Your Help!
Give Blood | Ask a Friend | Raise Awareness
There's currently a shortfall in blood donations and the Scouts are working to help meet the need by promoting the Mascaro Memorial Blood Drive this summer.
We've scheduled 12 blood drives throughout Philadelphia, Montgomery and Delaware Counties to assist with the effort. The first drive starts in just 9 days!
If you've been considering becoming a blood donor, now is the time sign-up.
One pint of blood can save up to three lives!
Whether you choose to become a blood donor or not, please consider helping us get the word out to family, friends and co-workers.
Thank you for making a difference this summer!
Congratulations to David C. from Troop 140 for submitting the winning entry for the patch contest! He'll be getting a $50 gift card to the Scout Shop.
Scouts who recruit just one blood donor will receive this patch. The top Scout in each district who recruits the most donors will be eligible to win a campership to a Cradle of Liberty Council camp in 2015.

2014 Adult Leader Training Requirements
|
All leaders on 2014 Cradle of Liberty Council charters must be position-specific trained, along with having current Youth Protection Training. This includes all Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters, Cubmasters and assistant Cubmasters, den leaders and assistant den leaders, Venturing crew advisors and assistant advisors, Varsity coaches and assistant coaches, Sea Scouting mates and skippers, committee chairs, and committee members.
- All assistant Scoutmasters and assistant Venturing crew advisors must complete their basic training or they will not be registered in that position. Assistant Scoutmasters and assistant Venturing crew advisors age 21 and older can register and function as a member of the troop or crew committee if they choose to not complete their classroom-style leader training.
- All Cub Scout leader training and committee training for both troops and packs is available online at myscouting.org.
- Venturing committee training is expected to be available from BSA National in spring of 2014 and will be mandatory for crew committee members at that time.
By dedicating 30 minutes of your time to complete this training, we are helping to ensure a quality program for all of the youth we serve through Scouting.

Online Merit Badge Counselor List
|
The Council Advancement Committee has been working for some time to make the list of registered Merit Badge Counselors available online to troop leadership so they can better support their Scouts in the Merit Badge Program.
The list of all registered Merit Badge Counselors has been posted under the advancement tab at www.colbsa.org.
In accordance with BSA policy, the list is password protected. Scoutmasters and unit advancement chairs can get the user ID and password from their district advancement chairs, merit badge deans, or district professionals. If any errors are discovered, please notify your district advancement chair so he or she can work with you to register or reregister any individuals who should be listed.
Scouts who wish to reach out to a merit badge counselor should contact their Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster's designee within their troop, as prescribed in the BSA Advancement Guidelines.
