Council-Wide Spring "Join Cub Scouts" Night on May 15

On Thursday, May 15, the Cradle of Liberty Council will be hosting a "Join Cub Scouts" Night at over 40 locations throughout the tri-county area for boys currently in kindergarten through fourth grades and their families. This is a fantastic opportunity for your pack that you don't want to miss! With school presentations being done, flier distributions in our communities, and press releases being sent to local media outlets, all you have to do is show up and show-off what your pack has to offer.

All boys that turn in an application that night will get 50% off one day of the Cub Scout Carnival at Musser Scout Reservation, June 7 or 8, and will also get a free treat from the location they sign-up at!

Make sure your pack doesn't miss-out on this opportunity! Be sure to contact your district membership chair and/or your district professional to ensure you get the specific details for your unit.

The list of locations and resources are available at:

Scouting for Life Blood Drive

Service is part of the lifeblood of Scouting.

Here's a chance to give back in more ways than one.

The Cradle of Liberty Council is partnering with J.P. Mascaro & Sons and the American Red Cross to maximize participation in the Francesco A. Mascaro Memorial Blood Drive. This is a great way for Scouts and Scouters to provide service hours and support a critical need in the community!

During weekends in late August (a high-need month for blood donation), drives will be conducted throughout the council. Scouts and Scouters will be able to provide service in a several ways:

  • By promoting the drive to family, friends, colleagues, business associates, and the community-at-large and securing blood donor commitments.
  • By giving blood (donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental consent form).
  • By volunteering at the drive (limited opportunities available).
*** Commit Your Unit to the Drive! ***
Visit www.colbsa.org/blooddrive and click the link at the top of the page to complete a short survey.

The Cradle of Liberty Council-coordinated blood drive locations scheduled for August will be posted at www.colbsa.org/blooddrive by the end of this week. Promotional materials will be available starting next week at your district roundtables. A unit leader's guide, Scout promotion tips, donor commitment cards, and posters will be available (and posted on the website) so your Scouts, families and leaders can start getting the word out! Check out the unit leader's guide for all the details and special incentives for Scouts and units.

Blood Drive Patch Contest
To kick things off, the Cradle of Liberty Council has launched a patch contest for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers. The contest winner will receive a $50 gift card to the Scout Shop! Deadline for submissions is Friday, May 30, 2014. Please download the submission form for more details and get those entries in!
