Update - Mark's Building
|
After nearly 10 years of legal disputes, the Cradle of Liberty Council and the City of Philadelphia have reached a settlement regarding the Boy Scout office at 22nd & Winter Streets in Philadelphia.
The settlement involves the Council's professional staff vacating the property by June 30th, and the Scout Shop vacating by October 31st. In turn, the City will pay the Council $825,000 for capital improvements we have made to the building over the years.

2013 Wood Badge Training - Registration Open!
|
Your 2013 Wood Badge Staff has been pounding the pavement, speaking at roundtables and targeting prospective participants for the September-October Wood Badge Course. We have spoken to many interested Scouters and answered many, if not all, your questions. We stand ready to answer many more.
The major questions relate to two categories, one how long do I have to make up my mind and two, what about the Ticket. I will answer both:
- National requirements state that there must be 32 fully paid participants one month before the scheduled start of the course. This means if we do not have 32 fully paid by the beginning of August the course will not happen. Staff has been through three development sessions preparing to present a fantastic course where all participants are guaranteed a fantastic experience. May and June end the Roundtable season and we will not be around groups of Scouters to press our case for participation. We are asking you to sign up and pay before the end of June so that we can all have a pleasant summer and come back in the fall for a full 48 participant course.
- The Ticket, a unique aspect of Wood Badge Training developed by Baden Powell, to have participants practice some of the skills learned at the Wood Badge Course. It is comprised of five SMART goals, developed by each participant to advance scouting in their units toward their personal vision. (S - Specific, M - Measurable, A - attainable, R - Relevant, T - Timely). Each individual participant will develop their goals with the help of the WB Staff and will have 18 months to complete. Each participant will be assigned a Ticket counselor to guide their journey to Ticket Completion. Ticket items are not "cast in Stone" they may be adjusted as a participant's vision may evolve or they change positions within Scouting.
Just think a full course of 48 Scouters, each performing 5 goals to better their Units, District or Council,
Please help us reach our vision to better our Units, Districts and Council by participating in Wood Badge.
The Course will be conducted September 7, 8, & 9th and October 12, 13, & 14th, 2013. The Cost is $250.00. Any questions please contact Gerry Myers, Course Director at 215-815-1865 or thepamyers@msn.com and we will respond.
