Asking Deeper Questions
Kalpana (Rose) M. Kumar, M.D.

In April, Dr. Kumar learned of the sudden and unexpected death of her mother.  In sympathy and to honor her ability to ease back into work, we are running a previous article we consider well worth reconsidering.  Working with your healthcare provider to increase awareness of the patterns underneath your symptoms deepens your work with that provider and results in an opportunity for real healing and not just symptom management.

Companions for the Journey II
Boris Matthews, PhD

In this month's article, Boris writes a thoughtful & compelling commentary on Marjorie Hines Woollcott's  book, Infinite Awareness. He emphasizes how Marjorie was negative about complementary medicine and meditation, only to find her personal and professional life transformed when she studied the modalities and ..."two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference" (to quote Robert Frost).  In her case, the "road less traveled" turned out to completely change the focus of her life's work with incredible results.

Scientific Proof of Acupuncture Meridians
Aimee Brown, LAc, MSOM

Many people think there is no scientific basis for acupuncture.  Nothing could be further from the truth!  The clearly recorded 2,000 year old history of acupuncture has been under serious study for the past 50 years.  The results are amazing.   Aimee has included an April, 2016 article about the cardiovascular system research results.

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things - Books
Genevie L. Kocourek, M.D.

This is the first in a series of articles Dr. Kocourek is writing about meaningful things in her life she wishes to share with patients and friends. This month's article is a list of books she finds informative, poignant, and life inspiring.  Some are directly related to "health" care - some are about "life" care.  Enjoy the list and her thoughts about each.

My Chart
There are some important guidelines to consider when contacting your physician or practitioner via MyChart.  First off, MyChart is not a simple email system for communicating with your provider-anything sent via MyChart becomes a permanent part of your electronic medical record.  Information included within MyChart should be about you and you only, not other family members.  Please read more to understand how to best optimize your use of this important communication tool. And, if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask the next time you're at the Center.
Happy Mother's Day
It takes real-time hard work and commitment to be a mother - This month we honor that noble and great work done by women all over the world.
