Demystifying the Importance of Thyroid Balance
Kalpana (Rose) M. Kumar, M.D.

Recently I wrote a Facebook post about managing thyroid disorders during peri-menopause and received an overwhelming number of responses. A very dynamic conversation ensued, bringing awareness to the fact that many women suffer with thyroid imbalances that go unrecognized by the traditional medical system; leaving them tired and overweight with a significant decrease in mental clarity. With the many patients I see with thyroid disorders, I thought it would be beneficial for me to write about thyroid imbalances and how I have treated them for nearly two decades with overwhelming success.

Homeopathy Stimulates Self-Healing
David Johnson, CCH

In this short but excellent YouTube video, Ms. Rachel Roberts describes her love and excitement for homeopathy and its ability to stimulate the person's self-healing.
One point she makes is a critique often heard against complementary medicine in general, and homeopathy in particular-that we don't understand how the homeopathic remedies work. Although there are many scientific theories about how homeopathy works, Ms. Roberts feels for the greater acceptance of homeopathy in medicine it's very important we fully understand the process someday.
As a former physician assistant with clinical and teaching experience, I can state that while her concern reflects a noble ideal, it's also true we don't understand how prescription medicines work. And yet that lack of understanding hasn't dampened physicians' or the public's enthusiasm for use of those drugs--in spite of the many side effects that homeopathic remedies do not have.

Aimee Brown, LAc

Aimee Brown, LAc, is offering a special $25/session discount for all new clients scheduling between 10/14-10/30 in honor of Oriental Medicine Month. Mark your calendars... because Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) Day is October 24th and that means October is the month we aim to raise public awareness and support for the use of acupuncture and other forms of traditional Chinese and Oriental medicine. This observation is designed to raise awareness to the use, progression, and benefits of acupuncture and other forms of traditional Oriental medicine. Thousands of licensed acupuncturists, government figures, and health organizations use the month to support the practice and its use in modern-day medicine.
Acupuncture is traditional form of complementary medicine/treatment in which thin needles are placed inside the skin to promote the body's own self-healing mechanism. It's frequently used to treat pain, inflammation, and dozens of different physical and mental conditions. Acupuncture originated in China during the Shang Dynasty (600-1100 BCE) but has since spread throughout the world, with millions of people now using it to improve their lives.
