How to Get a Good Night's Sleep

Kalpana (Rose) M. Kumar, M.D.

Sleep is essential for health. The lack of sleep stresses the adrenals and reduces vitality. It causes an acceleration of the aging process. The three most powerful ways to promote health and slow down aging are: 1. A plant based wholesome diet rich in antioxidants 2. 6 - 8 hours of sleep per night 3. Regular aerobic exercise (at least 20 minutes 5 to 6 times per week)

The lack of sleep has become a chronic problem of our time...

Change in Lab Site Access

Dynacare Lab Sites No Longer Available to Ommani Patients

Many of our patients have historically used Dynacare as their lab of choice for lab work ordered by our physicians. Effective July 1, 2015 Dynacare's ownership and name has changed. The new name is Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories and it is now solely owned by Froedtert Health, Inc. and their facilities are only available to Froedtert patients.

What does that mean for Ommani patients?

As we currently understand it, our patients will no longer be able to have outpatient lab work done at any of the old Dynacare/now Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories locations.

This being the case we will begin recommending that patients have their lab work drawn at local ProHealth Care facilities, Oconomowoc or Waukesha Memorial Hospitals. Doctors will begin ordering lab work through the electronic medical record and they will be viewable/accessable at any of the ProHealth facilities in the area. If you prefer (or if your insurance requires) a non-ProHealth lab, please discuss the situation with your physician when labs are ordered and she/he will be happy to provide printed orders you can use at your chosen lab.

Attached is a list of the current ProHealth Care Lab draw sites. Appointments are generally not necessary, but it is always a good idea to confirm hours of operation as they are subject to change at any time.

Dr. Kumar Accepts Health Insurance

Effective July, 2015 we are happy to, once again, file health insurance claims for Dr. Rose Kumar.

For the past three months, Dr. Kumar has accepted insurance reimbursement for existing patients, but not for new patients or patients who have had to change their insurance plan. We have heard from many people that this lack of insurance benefit has been a hardship. The requests have been many for Dr. Kumar to reverse her decision about insurance reimbursement.

After serious consideration, Dr. Kumar has decided to reinstate her "in-network" status with the insurance companies, effective July 1, 2015. As always, Dr. Kumar's main concern is the health of her patients. She is also sensitive to the financial impact of the cost of medical treatment and that sensitivity has influenced her decision.

We are happy to announce that she is in-network for most commercial and individual health insurance plans and some of the Wisconsin Health Exchange programs under the Affordable Care Act. Be advised she continues to opt-out of all Medicare & Medicaid health plans.
