PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
|
 Hello Evergreen Families -
We hope you are having a wonderful extended weekend and honoring Dr. King's legacy by making tomorrow a day on rather than a day off. We hosted our MLK Assembly on Friday and carried on Dr. King's message of civil rights and equal treatment for all. We reminded students that it is important to strive for racial equality and it is their responsibility to support those who are working toward it and redirect those who are fighting against it. Our ASB Leadership class did a fantastic job capturing Dr. King's message and leaving students with action steps and things to consider. We hope your student will use Monday as a day on to serve their community rather than a day off. Dr. King said, "Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love." So we hope everyone takes this opportunity to serve at home, serve in their community, or build a plan to serve in some capacity in another location in the coming weeks and months. In addition to service, we want to remind students to make time to study for their upcoming finals. This is the last week of the 1st semester and students will be changing classes next Monday. With these upcoming tests and changes, students might be feeling somewhat anxious. Please talk with your student about stress management, good study habits, and how to prepare for finals this week. Please let them know their counselor is available to talk with them as well if they want to discuss their feelings.
Lastly, we will be celebrating the end of the 1st semester with a dance ("Winter Wonderland") Friday after school. Students can purchase tickets before school and at lunch Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We look forward to celebrating the half-way mark of the school year with them and we are proud of the growth and maturation each student has achieved.
We hope you have a wonderful "Day On" serving our community and we are grateful to partner with you serving in this capacity.
As always, please let us know how we can best support your student and their academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Wishing you all our best,
Robert Johnson

The line for dance ticket sales during lunches on Wednesday (1/20) and Thursday (1/21) will be quite long.
