HOW DOES THE GENERAL PLAN AFFECT ME?
The City recently released a draft of an updated General Plan--which lays out the community's vision for the future of Novato and creates a roadmap on how to achieve that vision. It will guide City decisions that affect future employment, housing, and growth in our community. It addresses topics including transportation, housing, open spaces and our environment, Downtown Novato, and City infrastructure and services.

Visit novato.org/generalplan and choose a workshop, open house, or neighborhood meeting date that works for you to learn more about this Plan and give us your feedback. Can't make a meeting? Join the conversation online

PROPOSED PLAN SHARED FOR HILL RECREATION AREA SITE
On August 9, the City hosted its third community design workshop for the Hill Recreation Area Master Plan--which is also home to the Margaret Todd Senior Center and Hill Gymnasium. More than 70 people attended the meeting where the project team walked attendees through the preliminary design resulting from community design workshops last year and online input from residents. Meeting participants provided staff with feedback on the conceptual design which includes synthetic turf fields, bocce courts, a playground, walking path, pickleball courts, and new parking. See the proposed plan and learn more about this community project: novato.org/hillmasterplan.
Novato Reduces Emissions through Resilient Neighborhoods
Residents from Novato, San Rafael and San Anselmo came together to form the Marin "Carbon-Knights" team to fight climate change. On average, they reduced their household emissions by 29% and collectively wiil prevent 48,000 lbs. of annual CO2 pollution. Some of the actions they took include signing up for MCE's Deep Green 100% renewable energy, purchasing a plug-in hybrid car, reducing miles driven by 20%, installing a high efficiency toilet and putting in a gray water system. To create community resilience, they are gettiing earthquake insurance, completing household emergency plans, connecting with their neighbors and signing up for a CERT class.

You can become one of the 660 Marin households who have reduced 2.85 million carbon lbs. through the Resilient Neighborhoods Program. Learn more and sign up for a team. The program is free, fun and rewarding.
