This Saturday, the Downtown Novato Business Association will host a parasol parade, which welcomes kids and familes adorned in their spring finest: decorated hats, bikes, trikes, wagons & strollers. Latest Parks Activity Guide Now Available! Camps, classes, childcare, and more!

  

In March and April, items considered by the City Council included: body cameras for our NPD officers, Measure F funding to continue a Novato Response Team position, Community Development Block Grant recommendations, feedback on site plan for the renovation of a bus transfer facility on Redwood Blvd., a General Plan white paper on the Bel Marin Keys industrial parks zoning, appointments to City Commissions, Committees, and Boards, an annual Housing Element progress report, an agreement for Emergency Management Services in partnership with the Novato Fire District, support for AB 1537, workshops for the City's proposed FY 14-15 operations and capital improvement budgets, and plans and specs for the Pioneer Park Tennis Courts.  A busy, productive spring!

In other news:

The Novato Police Department (NPD) is now offering computer kiosks in the Department's lobby at 909 Machin Ave, allowing visitors to file online reports, access the Megan's Law database as well as the City's website. The NPD is also holding its ever-popular "Coffee with the Cops," and this time, the Novato Fire District is joining in. Also, sign-up now for the NPD's no-cost, four-day Youth Camp--it fills up quickly! 

 

The City's Streetscape Advisory Committee is holding its 19th Annual Clean & Green Day--and this year, you can choose to clean up some of the planters and sidewalk areas in Downtown Novato. Celebrate Earth Day for Novato: sign-up for this one-day Clean-and-Green-a-thon!

 

DID YOU KNOW that the City is proposing a $1 million investment in new infrastructure and much-needed facility maintenance? Find out more about the City's proposed $6.6 million Capital Improvement Program. Exciting times for the Novato community!

SMART Tackles Railroad Crossings in Novato
     

Over the last few weeks, SMART has been upgrading at-grade railroad crossings in Novato. This includes the replacement of local road crossings at the track with concrete panels for improved, bike, car, and pedestrian passage.

 

Crossings at Rush Creek Place, Golden Gate Place, Grant and Olive Aves. are being, or have been, upgraded.

Festivites to include City Offices Open House & NPD Activities
 

      

Brought to us by School Fuel--the Novato Foundation for Public Education--the annual Tour of Novato and Fun Fair will be held in Downtown Novato and will celebrate and raise funds for our Novato schools. Additionally, the City and Novato Police Department will host open houses at 922 and 909 Machin which will include tours, demonstrations, bicycle rodeos, activities and much more.
