Greetings!
This May we celebrated the graduation of the MAEEE class of 2013. We wish them all the best as they continue in their careers and we look forward to seeing how they will impact economic, entrepreneurship and financial education in their communities.
As we move into the third quarter, we would like to welcome the new MAEEE class. The MAEEE class of 2015 includes students from across the United States, Delaware, Malaysia, Singapore and Argentina. We are excited that they will be joining us for four academically and intellectually challenging weeks in the "vacation capital of the world".
As always, thank you for your continued support of the CEEE.
Sincerely,
Jim O'Neill
Director, CEEE

Teach Children to Save Day
This April, as part of Delaware's 15th annual Teach Children to Save Day (TCTSD), more than 8,100 third- and fourth-grade students in 107 public, private and parochial schools throughout Delaware learned the importance of saving to ensure future financial security and making informed spending choices.
Bank volunteers visited 321 elementary classrooms to teach the lesson on prudent money management, using the children's books The Great Investo and The Globe-Trotting, Cash-Spotting, Mystical Sphere by Greg Koseluk.
Alexa Harrison from Lombardy Elementary School won $100 for placing first in the TCTSD poster contest.
A partnership between the Delaware Bankers Association and the CEEE was established in 1998 to promote financial literacy in elementary schools in Delaware. Since then, the CEEE has developed a variety of financial lessons that meet the Delaware economic standards and each year trains hundreds of bank volunteers to teach those lessons to Delaware students on Teach Children to Save Day.

High School Students Win $2,500 Scholarship Each year since 2002, students enrolled in Keys to Financial Success, the CEEE's high school personal finance course, have been eligible to participate in an essay competition sponsored in partnership with the Delaware Bankers Association (DBA). Jalen Green and Ashley Pappas, seniors at Caesar Rodney High School, wrote the prize-winning essays that reflected their understanding of the benefits of prudent money management. Their teacher was Carla Lawson. DBA awarded a $2,500 scholarship to each winner at its annual banquet held May 9th in the Gold Ballroom of the Hotel DuPont.

Virtual Economics: Magic Bullet for Teaching Economics
Since 2011, grants from the Council on Economic Education (CEE) and State Farm Insurance have provided free copies of the Virtual Economics CD ROM and free training for hundreds of Delaware teachers. This past spring, CEE and State Farm provided funds to train an additional 100 Delaware teachers to use this valuable teaching tool.
The lessons and activities contained in the CD ROM support the Delaware Economics Standards and address concepts and skills that are part of the Delaware Recommended Curriculum Model Units.
A total of 37 K-12 teachers participated in Virtual Economics workshops taught by the CEEE Program Coordinator.
Additional workshops will be held in southern Delaware in the fall. Be on the lookout for registration for the upcoming workshops. Participating teachers receive 2.5 hours of professional development credit.
