I had a chance to sneak over to the NYCC for a little bit late last week for some quick retailer-type stuff but that was pretty much it NYCC-wise for me. Unfortunately, due to the ankle injury that I received a couple of weeks ago (healing nicely, thank you), I couldn't spend as much time as I would have liked to walking around the con. I hope those of you who were able to get tickets and did attend had a great time.

 

I did stick around a bit to take some photos and you'll find them a little further down.

 

Before we go on though I'd just like to say a quick thank you to those of you who made up for missing the con by taking advantage of our "I'd rather be at ComicCon" sale"!  Hope you pick up a few bargains over the weekend!

I took these first couple of photos on the ferry oon Thursday morning. It's something you don't see a the ferry every day.

 

Here's how that conversation went.

Me: Hey folks, can I take a photo?

Them: Sure

NOTABLE  

 DARWYN COOKE COVERS DC

In December DC's themed variant cover promotion will be a series of covers by fan favorite Darwyn Cooke done in his distinctive Silver Age throwback style (see his DC: The New Frontier).  Each cover will be landscape format running horizontally across the front of the cover.

 

I'll be placing orders on these covers a bit later this month and they'll be arriving in December.  I don't think I'll be able to put together an order form by the time orders are do so check around the interwebs and if you see a cover you want (or want to order the entire set) please let us know like ASAP.

SECRET WARS 2015

Now it starts to make some sense. All this "ALL NEW" stuff.

 

It's been clear for a while that Jonathan Hickman's Avengers comics are building to something big in 2015. Time is Running Out in Marvel's Avengers Comics and now we get an idea where all this heading.
I'm actually surprised about how really excited I am about this. More info here (and a link to a bigger image) and elsewhere on the internet ("just google it")!

 

OLD FRIENDS!

How great it was to see these guys! Brian Flattery, Michael Russo and Simon Nakhiengchanh (from left to right) were all part of the "golden age" era at Dewey's, circa the mid-90s! I probably haven't seen Simone and Bryan in 15 years, and Mike for almost as long. Simone was one of my earliest co-workers. He worked at the store for a couple of years, back at our first location (about a block away from where we are now), filing back issues and the like. All are doing well, have grown into fine young men, and it was really fun catching up with them.

 

Always great to see old friends.  If you haven't stopped by in awhile - what's keeping you?  I'm in every Wednesday for sure - stop on by and say hello.
