PureJoy

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."  (James 1:2-4)
Did You Know?
Sixth Grade Teacher, Miss Angell, ran the Chicago Marathon in 2011!   It was good conditioning for teaching sixth-grade.

Opening Quote, Joke, Scripture, and Prayer

This Week's Opening Quote:

"Too many Christians have a commitment of convenience. They'll stay faithful as long as it's safe and doesn't involve risk, rejection, or criticism. Instead of standing alone in the face of challenge or temptation, they check to see which way their friends are going."
(
Charles Stanley, 1932-, Southern American Clergyman,)

Opening Joke:

(See the punchline at the close of the ePulse):

How does Moses make his tea?

This Week's Scripture:

". . .confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." (James 5:16, English Standard Version)

This Week's Opening Prayer:

"Father in heaven, I am tempted, and I sin every day. All sin and fall short of Your glory, Lord. I am weak. My spirit is willing, but my flesh is weak. Lord, allow me to lean into Your strength when I am tempted to sin. I pray that Your strength will be made perfect in my weakness. Lord, don't allow me to ever isolate from other Christians. Place me constantly in community, and allow me to pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ, and allow me to confess my sin to them. What a reassurance to know that You are working great power through us in community, when we are confessing our sins, bearing each others' temptations, and praying for one another. So, help me, God. Amen."

Notes from Dr. Bob

You should know that I, Dr. Bob, recently participated in a recorded interview with Dave Nadler of Pulse 99.5 FM Radio, and that spot will be aired on Monday morning, February 25, between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m., if you are interested in listening.   I definitely attempted to be a passionate spokesman for Des Moines Christian School and Christ-centered education!  My appearance on 99.5, and the advertising which will occur over the course of the next month, is due to the generosity of a Des Moines Christian couple!  I praise the Lord for their financial support!

I was blessed this week by a first grader who wrote me a beautiful note.  She wrote, "Dr. Bob, You are the best!  You are a heart of hope in my life!"  Have I received a sweeter or more pure note from anyone?! I think not!  What a blessing are the students of Des Moines Christian School!
