Editing and Periodic Writing by Dr. Bob Stouffer, Superintendent Development by Marilyn Wilson and Published by Lisa Fitzgerald
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)
Joy is that miracle which takes place inside a person so that, even in the midst of the storm, when there is no room for happiness, you notice off to the side somewhere a resilient flower rebelling against the elements. Joy is that flower. It's not happiness. It's, well, indescribable (1 Peter 1:8)." From Covenant of Love

Opening Quote, Scripture, and Prayer
|
This Week's Opening Quote:
"We are not saved by deeds; we are saved for deeds." (emphasis in original, William Barclay, 1907-1978, Scottish theologian)
This Week's Scripture:
". . .a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified." (Ephesians 2:16, English Standard Version)
This Week's Opening Prayer:
"I am saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone. I cannot be 'good enough' to gain entrance to heaven. I cannot go to church or serve enough to gain entrance into heaven. I cannot gain entrance to heaven on the shirttails of my parents. I cannot gain entrance to heaven by having a positive balance of good works. I sin. I need a Savior. Jesus rescued me! I praise God for my salvation, and, in light of the truth of that salvation, I will live this day and work this day to honor and glorify Christ! Amen!"

Box Tops Trivia: Did you know that General Mills sends 2 checks a year for Box Tops to our school? One is sent in December and the other in April. We still keep collecting year-round to make our year's goal of $8,500, but we strive to collect as many Box Tops as possible throughout the school year before our February 28th submission date, so we can use the money during the current school year. We submit Box Tops 4 times a year: in October, December, February, and June before many expire. (General Mills will not pay for expired Box Tops.) We are currently ranked 3rd of all schools within 25 miles, with North Polk Central Elementary beating us by a few dollars and Dallas Center-Grimes Elementary ahead of us by $1,000. We are ranked 11th in the state! You can help us reach 1st place by turning in your Box Tops on Thursday, February 14th, Bonus Box Tops Day! Just bring your Box Tops in before school that day, and you will receive a Hershey Kiss, just because we LOVE that everyone clips Box Tops for DMCS! Early Education families may turn their Box Tops in to the Early Education office to receive their Hershey Kiss when they arrive; Elementary families may turn their Box Tops in at the table in the Multi-Purpose Room before school; and Secondary students may turn their Box Tops in at the table in the Secondary entryway. Please help us collect enough Box Tops to move us into 1st place above Dallas Center-Grimes!!

Closing Quote:
". . .no one, whatever may have been his or her condition, nation, or class in society, has ever been counted righteous without good works." (John Calvin, 1509-1564, French theologian)
Closing Prayer:
"Thank You, Jesus, that I am saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone, a free gift of God, of which I cannot boast, and I only must receive. But thank you, too, Jesus, that I may know the works of God, which are an outcome of my faith, in steadfast obedience to Your Holy Spirit's calling in my life - that I might honor and glorify You in all that I think, in all that I say, in and in all that I do. Amen."
Sincerely,
 Dr. Bob Stouffer, Superintendent
