"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)

Opening Quote, Scripture, and Prayer
|
This Week's Opening Quote:
"I know my redeemer lives." (Nicole C. Mullen, 1967-, Contemporary American Christian singer)
This Week's Scripture:
"The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." (Job 1:21, English Standard Version)
This Week's Prayers:
"God in heaven, every good gift comes from you, the Father of light, the giver of every great gift. I owe EVERYTHING to You, Lord. Stripped of every material blessing, I would still have the only possession of greatest worth - Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of my life! You also discipline me or allow trials in my life, according to Your good purposes. How could I also not declare, like Job, "The Lord gives; the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord"?! I love You, Lord, for Your presence in my life, and I look to You in heaven, from whence my help ALWAYS comes. Amen!"

Security Update
|
Great news on the safety and security front! A couple weeks ago, we initiated the purchase for installation of the next phase with our security system, and we thought we would be waiting 4-6 weeks. However, God opened-up a new window of opportunity, and the security company, A-Tech, began installation of the next phase on Monday, January 21! Praise the Lord that we will be able to secure the building much more quickly than anticipated! We have also received the FREE expert counsel from security specialists - a DMC father who is in the military and a DMC grandfather who is a private investigator. You will be hearing about the details of enhanced security equipment and systems in the near-future, because we want you to be prepared for some new procedures and inconveniences that you have not encountered in the past. I am certain we all agree that bearing new (and not onerous) inconveniences is a small sacrifice when our children, staff, parents, grandparents, relatives, vendors, and other visitors are MUCH MORE SAFE. Please praise God for His protection at Des Moines Christian School!, and pray for His continuing hand of protection on DMC!

Christian Solidarity International Update
|
This is the last week to give to the Christian Solidarity International to free slaves in North Sudan. We have had a great response in just a few weeks, raising $4,000, which will free 38 slaves and buy 38 goats for milk and cheese production. As the Lord leads - no pressure - please consider giving to this worthwhile cause, of which Alumnus Joel Velkamp is a part.
