"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)

Opening Quote, Scripture, and Prayer
|
This Week's Opening Quote -
"How many observe Christ's birthday! How few, His precepts!" (Benjamin Franklin, 1706-1790, American writer, a philosopher, a scientist, a politician, a patriot, a Founding Father, an inventor, and publisher)
This Week's Scripture:
"1In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7, English Standard Version)
This Week's Prayers -
"Lord, this weekend, we enter into the Christmas season by celebrating the first Sunday of Advent. Lord, prepare my heart. Prepare my mind. Bring me into a most worshipful state. Help me to embrace the Christ child as the source of my salvation. May I live in light of that rescue every day of my life, but make me very appreciative that You, Father, sent Your only begotten Son to earth to redeem me! I praise You, Lord! Amen!"

Notes from Dr. Bob
| How very exciting to experience the Des Moines Christian School Concert Choir, under the direction of Joy Augustine, backing-up Kenny Rogers extremely well during his Hits and Christmas Concert at the Des Moines Civic Centre on Monday, November 26th! From nearly the back row of the auditorium, my wife Cheryl and I (Dr. Bob) beamed with pride for the beautiful sound produced by the choir. How cool that Kenny Rogers called the choir and Mrs. Augustine out by name! And he wants them to accompany him again in 2013! I was pleased to see so many parents at the concert, but, of course, I was not surprised, because DMC parents always bring such positive support in droves. I am extremely grateful for the extra efforts of he choir and Mrs. Augustine in rehearsing for this concert! These young people and Mrs. Augustine represented Christ, their families, and the school so well! And they certainly helped usher Cheryl and me into the Christmas season! Merry Christmas! The first Sunday of Advent is December 2nd!
I, Dr. Bob, would give anything to insure a school culture which is void of bullying, but I know that many Christian school children also struggle with these behaviors. Do you think your child is the victim of bullying? An equally important question: Is your child bullying an/other child/ren? Check out the following 2-minute video to distinguish the difference between bullying and conflict. Please let us know if you have concerns about conflict or bullying at Des Moines Christian. We are working with all of our might to help students develop great relationships, to effectively resolve their conflicts, and to avoid any bullying behaviors. We have zero tolerance for bullying. |
