Over the next few months we'd like to take the opportunity to introduce you to our staff so that you'll have a face to associate with the voice on the phone. This month's feature will be our Sales Manager, Matthew Warne.
Matthew Warne - Sales Manager - Eleven Years - Matt joined the E. D. Farrell Co., Inc team 11 years ago as a Sales Representative under the tutelage of his father, David Warne. Spending 6 years learning the ins and outs of the material handling industry, Matt has become a go to resource for a variety of applications and environments. His invaluable experience gained in the field led him to become our Sales Manager in 2006. Two years later Matt directed the Sales team to highest numbers ever in E. D. Farrell Co., inc. history. While the turn down in the economy has slowed that progress, Matt is eager to return to top numbers with an attitude of "let us solve your material handling needs!"
As was evident with the experience between our service managers last month, Matt has a vast array of knowledge gained through in the field experience and customer interaction. His strengths in these areas allow us to feel that our sales team is equipped to meet all your needs. |

The new version of the customer portal contains a number of new features providing enhanced functionality. Much of this improvement is the direct result of customer feedback and for that, we are grateful.

Service Feature: Engine Problem Testing
Do you feel that your forklift engine isn't what it used to be, but you're not sure what to ask your service provider to do? Take a moment to read the article on engine testing this month at material handling network. (click here for article)

The article highlights two commonly used tests to diagnose engine problems and highlight what repairs are needed.
Testing Procedures:
1. Compression test is performed to measure the dynamic pumping pressure of the cylinder when the crankshaft is rotated. This test has two parts, being a dry test and wet test which each help to indicate where the problem is in the engine.
2. A Leak Down Test is performed to pinpoint specific leaks in compression in an engine by using a set of pressure gauges with a regulating device to quantify percentage of leaking.
If you feel that your problems are related to your engine, but want to be sure, call us today for our 200 point service.
For $395.00 we will provide an in depth analysis of your forklift and give you several recommendations on repair/replacement. |

Safety Feature: Safety Gas Cans
What makes a safety can a safety can? If you store gasoline in your facility and aren't sure if it is in a safety can, read on.
Glen Carter, chief technology officer, Justrite Manufacturing Company, is a recognized authority on flammable liquids storage and handling. He is currently on three UL standards committees and has served as a member of the NFPA 30 Technical Committee, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code since 2008.
It is evident from the number of accidents/fires occurring each year in our workplaces, and even in our homes, that we have a long way to go in our basic safety training about the hazards of flammable and combustible liquids. This involves use, storage, and transportation of these fluids. Complacency or ignorance can result in the destruction of our facilities, suffering from physical and emotional scars, and in some cases death (maybe the loss of loved ones). Some businesses never recover from these disasters.
Fortunately, laws have been enacted to help protect workers from workplace dangers, such as the mandated use of a "Safety Can" when handling flammables. But what really makes a Safety Can "safe?" An understanding of basic fire principles and liquid characteristics, along with laws, procedures, and properly designed safety equipment, will result in an intuitive approach to flammable liquid safety. If it is not intuitive, a disconnect occurs - a disconnect that could eventually result in an incident.
