E. D. Farrell Co., Inc. Monthly Newsletter August Edition |
|
|
Over the next few months we'd like to take the opportunity to introduce you to our staff so that you'll have a face to associate with the voice on the phone. This month's feature will be our three Service Managers, from West Seneca, NY, Erie, PA, and Jamestown, NY.
James Otis - West Seneca Branch Service Manager - Eight Years - James has held several positions with the company since starting full time in 2003. The background of working in the service department, parts department and sales department have helped him develop a well round approach to customer service as he manages the daily operations of the service department.
David Evanoff - Erie Branch Service Manager - Six Years - Dave has built up his experience by first starting in the parts department and progressing up to managing the service department. After six years of helping customers in the Erie PA region, Dave has proven his reliability by always pushing to be the best in service amongst our competitors!
Jolynn Stearns - Jamestown Branch Service Manager - Ten Years - Jolynn has fulfilled various roles with our Jamestown Branch prior to stepping up to the Service Manager Role in 2010. While still relatively new to the role, that hasn't stopped her from being successful at it, as she even manages to find the time to make customer visits and perform truck customization and programming in the field.
As you can probably see, we value experience and leadership with a collective 24 years experience amongst the three managers and we feel that our team is equipped to meet all your service needs. |

Product Feature: Very Narrow Aisle Forklifts
Are you trying to maximize every square inch of space in your warehouse? Is pallet count your top priority as Warehouse Manager? Have you ever considered moving to a Yale NTA very narrow aisle forklift?
NTA - Very narrow aisles are designed specifically for maximum storage density. Yale very narrow aisle trucks are ideal for pallet handling and case picking in applicants ranging from 16 to 55 ft. Yale spotlights the NTA for high density warehousing that requires maximum throughput.
NTA Productivity Enhancements:
1. AC Motor Technology: provides high starting torque, responsive directional changes, and smooth rapid acceleration
2. CANbus Controller: CANbus controller reduces wiring by 40% and electrical connections by 25%, resulting in improved reliability and improved visibility through the mast.
3. Auto Deceleration System: eliminates the need to manually apply the service brake, reducing operator fatigue and enhancing productivity.
4. Thermal Management System: continually monitors component temperature and adjusts truck performance, allowing trucks to run significantly cooler and longer.
5. Smart-Glide Height Sensing System: provides step-less speed control by optimizing maximum travel speed at various fork heights. The resulting benefits are faster travel speeds, improved acceleration, and increased productivity.
6. Tri & Quad Form Mast: stiff, heavy duty mast minimizes deflection, providing operator stability. 180° Rotating Turret Head: maximizes storage density and allows the operator to easily service both sides of the aisle.
7. Electronically Programmable Pantograph: variable stroke length, eliminating time-consuming "double-biting" at pick up and deposit stations
Call us today and we will look at your plans for your new warehouse and provide you with a solution including both Pallet Racks and Very Narrow Aisle Forklifts. 716-668-2722 or at www.edfarrell.com |

Safety Feature: 10 Things to know about Operator Training
10 Forklift Operator Training Requirements
According to Jeff Ord from Forklift Safety Training Services, Inc. the most frequent asked question that he receives in their office on a daily basis is, "What Do We Need To Do To Become OSHA Compliant?" Contrary to the many confused interpretations that he hears, his answer is simple and by the book as defined by the OSHA Federal Regulation 29CFR1910.178, paragraph L, "Operator Training".
i. It is THE employer's responsibility to Train, Test, Evaluate and Authorize every one of their forklift operators.
ii. Training and Evaluation(s) are the employers' responsibility, regardless of previous experience or prior training.
iii. All training must be site and equipment specific.
iv. Driving evaluation tests must be completed and filed for each forklift operator for every forklift that they operate to include loaners, rentals or any new or used forklifts acquired.
v. OSHA clearly states; "Certification. The EMPLOYER shall certify that each operator has been trained and evaluated as required by this paragraph L".
vi. The employer is certifying to OSHA that they are in compliance with OSHA's training requirements and that every operator has been trained, tested, evaluated and Authorized.
vii. Forklift operators are not certified, they are Authorized.
viii. Daily Safety Inspection Report Forms must be filled out on every forklift at the beginning of every shift.
ix. Training shall consist of a Complete video review of the entire OSHA Federal Regulation 29CFR1910.178, Powered Industrial Trucks, Operator Workbook, pre-shift Safety Inspections, Written Test and Driving Evaluation Test(s). After each operator has successfully completed OSHA's training requirements and for those forklift operators that can demonstrate safe driving skills and practices on a daily basis, Authorization Cards and Certificates of Completion can be issued by the employer to the forklift operator(s).
x. From a liability standpoint, we recommend that the employer takes two hours every year to re-certify their forklift operators by providing classroom instruction and driving evaluations.
