The Olympics of Professional Pet Styling
Whether you're a student, a professional groomer, or just thinking about getting started, you should know about GroomTeam USA.

GroomTeam USA is a non-profit organization that encourages groomers to maximize their education and skills to become the best in their field. In essence, to become the Olympians of the dog grooming industry.

GroomTeam members work toward placement on the team by earning points through sanctioned competitions held throughout the country over a two-year period. Top point earners form a team that is sent - all expenses paid - to compete abroad against other national teams.

It takes enormous dedication, hard work, and talent to achieve this level of excellence. If you'd like to learn more about GroomTeam USA - and about their victory in Milan, click here!

What a Good Ol' Dog!

November is Senior Pet Month

It's time to celebrate our old and dear friends.  Our dogs and cats are more than just pets - they're family.  If you're lucky enough to have a pet that has been with you for years, their needs will change.  They may need help with stairs or jumping onto the couch.  They might have joint pain.  Some will develop digestive issues.

As pets age, nutrition as well as grooming play greater roles in their health and well-being.  If you have an elderly pet, talk to us about ways we can make your pet more comfortable.

Therapy Dogs vs. Service Dogs
Giving "Working Dogs" New Meaning!

Did you know that there is a difference between therapy dogs and service dogs?

"Therapy dogs are dogs who go with their owners to volunteer in settings such as schools, hospitals, and nursing homes.

From working with a child who is learning to read to visiting a senior in assisted living, therapy dogs and their owners work together as a team to improve the lives of other people.

Therapy dogs are not service dogs. Service dogs are dogs who are specially trained to perform specific tasks to help a person who has a disability. An example of a service dog is a dog who guides an owner who is blind, or a dog who assists someone who has a physical disability. Service dogs stay with their person and have special access privileges in public places such as on planes, restaurants, etc. Therapy dogs, the dogs who will be earning the AKC Therapy Dog™ title, do not have the same special access as service dogs.

It is unethical to attempt to pass off a therapy dog as a service dog for purposes such as flying on a plane or being admitted to a restaurant."
