Spring is in the Air!
You can use dog hair for what?!

Dog hair can get everywhere.  It turns up in the strangest places!  This time of year, we spend a lot of time removing vent and outlet covers so we can vacuum out the huge amounts of dog hair that finds its way into every crevice.  Ceiling and box fans collect hair faster than we can keep up with it.  It just gets everywhere - but did you know it also has some interesting uses?

Dog hair is highly absorbent.  It's feel greasy because of its ability to soak up oil.  That's why it has been used by organizations to clean up oil spills.  The hair is stuffed into hosiery and used to to soak up pollution in our water.

Try it as a pest deterrent in the garden.  Dirty dog hair can be sprinkled around your plants and garden to prevent deer and other critters from eating your blooms.  Make sure to keep replacing it with new dirty hair after a rain for maximum effect.

While you're in the garden, cut the hair into smaller pieces and add it to your soil or compost bin.

Are you a bird watcher?  Leave your dog and cat hair outside for your feathered friends.  They'll love to make their nests more warm and comfortable with your donation.

If you'd like to try any of these ideas for yourself, just give us a call.  We'll be happy to set some aside for you on your next visit.

Catnip is a wonder plant.

Whether you have cats or not, you might think about planting some catnip around the yard this year.  Not only does this member of the mint family make a great treat for cats, it also helps to repel fleas!

The catnip plant takes well to most areas and can spread easily.  Consider it as a container plant, that way you can control the spread of the plant and move it inside for the winter.

Spring cleaning?  We can help.

Psst!  We've got a secret weapon that's perfect for Spring Cleaning and just about anything else.

Odor Handler is a dissolvable powder that we use every day at Paragon.  We put it in every load of towels to keep them smelling fresh - and believe me, we wash a lot of towels.  It also brightens colors!

You can mix a scoop with a gallon of water and use it to clean those tough areas.  Try it as a degreaser - you'll be amazed!

Cat owners: it's great for washing and disinfecting the litter box.  You can even sprinkle it in the litter itself to help eliminate odors.

Dog owners: it's perfect for cleaning the kennel or dog carrier.  Get rid of that "doggy smell" in a single application.

Speaking of doggy smells... include a scoop in the shampoo for your carpet cleaner.  It eliminates urine and waste smells from your carpets and rugs.  The next time you bring your dogs in for his scheduled grooming appointment, take some home with you and use his spa time to wash the carpets in your home.  Everything will be clean and fresh by the time Fido gets home!

Try it in your fight against mold, mildew, fungus, and bacteria.  No bathroom should be without it.

Odor Handler is a secret that's just too good to keep to ourselves.  Keep some on hand for your Spring cleaning needs.
