Become a Pet Groomer

Ready for a new career?  Do you love pets?  What are you waiting for?!
Give us a call to schedule a tour and find out if a career in pet grooming is right for you!

Foot Care
Caring for your pet's feet is always important, but especially so in the harsh winter months.  Did you know...
  • Mats (tangled hair) can cause discomfort between the toes and pads.
  • Mats and excessive coat between the pads will trap moisture, causing skin irritation.
  • In winter climates, excessive coat causes ice and salt buildup between the pads and toes.
  • Excessive coat hides burrs, thorns, tar, gum, and a wide range of items that can be uncomfortable to the pet.

Keeping those feet nice and neat also prevents salt and other debris from coming in with your pet.  If your pet could use a little neatening up, give us a call.  We'll be happy to help!

Our special Valentines Day bandanas will be on sale February 9th
through the 13th.  Stop in for a little extra flair!

February is National Pet Dental Health Month

Let's see those pearly whites!

Did you know that February is National Pet Dental Health Month?  This is a great time to take a look at your pet's teeth to see if you notice anything unusual with the teeth and gums.  Let us brush those choppers the next time you visit.  Our toothpaste is formulated for pets and will leave their breath minty fresh!

Ready to Start School?

Pet groomers are special people.  They have a genuine love and compassion for animals.  If this sounds like you or someone you know, why not consider a career in the grooming arts?

If you've been thinking about it, you may have a few concerns:

I'm afraid of being the oldest - or youngest - person in school.
Our students may be fresh out of high school or even semi-retired.  If you are in good physical health, can lift 40 pounds with relative ease, and have good arm and hand dexterity, you could become a groomer.

Changing careers seems risky.  Can I really get a job?
Absolutely!  There are plenty of opportunities for groomers, both locally and across the country.  We regularly hear from salons that are ready to hire new staff - and Paragon graduates are in great demand!

How can I afford it?
We have several programs that fit your needs.  Whether you 're interested in a short term program or want to attend our full 600-hour program, we can help.  Payment plans are available for most programs.  We can also see if you qualify for loans through our internal financing service.  Paragon is also licensed through the state of Michigan, so state level funding may also be available.

How do I know if it's really for me?
The best way to know if this is the career for you is to come in for a scheduled visit.  We will be happy to show you what a typical day is like and answer any questions you may have.  You could even be a "fly on the wall" for a few hours and observe students and Instructors as they learn and groom pets in a regular session.

Give us a call at 616.667.7297 or email us at info@paragonpetschool.com for more information and to receive a FREE information packet.  We can't wait to help you get started!

So Sweet!
Every dog has a favorite place.  Rico, one of our staff dogs, loves to cuddle up in front of the fireplace - even if it's just a space heater that looks like a fireplace.

Do you have a cuddly picture you'd like to share in next month's newsletter?  Email it to joellea@paragonpetschool.com
