Freshening Up
Cat Messes
Our staff has been using Odor Handler at Paragon for years and we'd like to share a few tips with you!
*Sprinkle a little in with your litter to keeps the box smelling fresh.
*Mix it with water in a spray bottle to help remove the staining left behind from hairball, um, ejection.
*Add it to your mop water when cleaning around your cat box.
*You can even add it to the next laundry load of towels to remove that musty smell.

Homemade Fun!
And a wonderful time was had by all!
Before you buy a new toy for Fido, try this homemade recipe for fun. All you need is an old sock and a plastic water bottle. First, remove the cap, label, and water ring from the bottle. Cut off the toe end of the sock. Insert the bottle into the sock and tightly tie each end, so that it snugly fits the bottle. Your pet will not be able to resist the crinkly noise of the bottle!

Make Your Own Chicken Jerky
Worried about recent recalls? Make your own treats!
Ingredients:
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 200° F
- Lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Rinse off chicken breast and remove any fat.
- Slice the chicken with the grain. This will help make the jerky even chewier for your dog. The slices should be very thin, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Place the strips on the baking sheet.
- Bake for approximately 2 hours (see note below).
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack until completely cool.
- Cut strips into bite sized pieces.
Storing: These homemade dog treats may not last long enough to be stored because they are so good. But, just in case they do, store them in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. Freeze any remainder for up to 8 months. Be sure to read our tips on storing homemade dog treats for more information.
Alternately, you can use a food dehydrator to make chicken jerky. You should first heat the chicken to 165o F to kill any bacteria before continuing with the dehydration process.
