Grooming for the Winter Months
The winter months are bringing us colder weather and (finally!) snow! Here are some tips for keeping your pets healthy and comfortable this season.
- Use a pet-friendly ice-melt for your sidewalks. If your pet likes to lick his feet when he comes back inside, this will help keep him healthy.
- Snow buildup: Even if your pet just goes outside for potty breaks, it's easy for little snowballs to develop between the toes. As humans, we're lucky not to have to deal with this issue, but imagine how it feels from a dog's perspective. We can keep the hair trimmed short between the pads to help reduce the buildup of snow. Even if you're trying to keep your pet in longer coat this winter, consider dropping by for maintenance to this area.

Apple Crunch Mini Pupcakes
Perfect for a Winter Snack
 1 tbl. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 tbl honey
4 cups flour
2 ¾ cups water
¼ c. unsweetened applesauce
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. dried or fresh apple
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all wet ingredients thoroughly. Mix dry ingredients separately. Slowly add wet mixture to dry mixing as you go. Make sure dry ingredients are thoroughly incorporated into the wet.
Pour mixture into muffin tins. Bake for 1 ¼ hours or until toothpick comes out dry. Makes 12-14 pupcakes in regular pans or around 30 "mini" pupcakes.
These will last 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator. You can freeze them too.

Dry Skin in the Winter Months
 Dry skin can be a real annoyance at this time of year. Itchy skin, flakes, redness... not just for you, but also for your pet. The good news is that help is not too far away. When you check your pet in for his groom, let us know if you've noticed any of these symptoms and we can recommend some solutions. Using the right combination of soothing shampoos and conditioners can make all the difference!
