WelcomeHomeWelcome Back Tim O'Donnell

Tim O'Donnell, former Manager of Smith Field Airport and current Operations Manager at Fort Wayne International Airport has finally returned home and returned to work November 1st after serving our country for over a year in Afghanistan with the Indiana National Guard 713th Engineer Company.  Tim, along with 85 other members of the 713th was deployed to Afghanistan in the Kandahar province and was responsible for the dangerous mission of patrolling roads and clearing roadside bombs.

I have been asked by many of you that know Tim O'Donnell and the impact that he has had on Smith Field how his return would effect us from an Operational standpoint.  Joe Marana will continue as Smith Field Supervisor and Tim will oversee Joe.  Operationally you should see very little change.

Welcome Home Tim! Its great to have you back!

InfoTenantInformation for Tenants

New T-Hangar

Wash your planes while you can!

The water lines will be shut off next week and all hoses will be taken inside. This weekend is supposed to be in the 60's which is great for getting that last wash in before winter.

T-Hangar Centerlines

As promised, On Nov. 11th Steve Grodrian came to SMD and painted centerlines for  every hangar with useable pavement.  It is important to note that these centerlines are for use with your nose wheel and should be used cautiously while pushing your aircraft inside your hangar.  Solely using this line as your guide could cause you to hit your tail on the hangar wall.  Due to changes in tenants and type of aircraft we will not be, and do not allow, painting of side tire lines.

Cranes in the vicinity of SMD

There will be a few cranes up around the SMD area. Crane #1 (2012-AGL-8827-OE at 41-10-02.27N 85-09-49.75W at 215 'AGL/1057'AMSL) will have the following impacts:

2012-AGL-8827-OE) At 1057 AMSL, Fort Wayne/Smith Field (SMD) IN. RNAV

(GPS) RWY 13; RNAV (GPS) RWY 31; VOR RWY 13, increase CAT B/C circling MDA from 1400 to 1420, NEH 1049 AMSL.

Crane #2 (2012-AGL-9054-OE at 41-9-16.22N85-9-52.98W at 150

feetAGL/1009'AMSL), which is scheduled to be up for 6 months, will have the following impacts:

At 1009 AMSL, Fort Wayne/Smith Field (SMD) IN. Obstacle penetrates Rwy31 Initial Climb Area (ICA) 83 feet requiring TAKE-OFF MINIMUM AND (OBSTACLE) DEPARTURE PROCEDURES, Rwy31, climb on heading between 313 CW to 133 from DER or climb on heading between 250 CW to 313 from DER to 2700 before proceeding on course or min climb gradient increase from 250 to 484 feet per NM to 1200, NEH 925 AMSL. W/2C Rwy31, climb on heading between 313 CW to 133 from DER or climb on heading between 250 CW to 313 from DER to 2700 before proceeding on course or min climb gradient increase from 250 to 377

feet per NM to 1100, NEH 925 AMSL.

There will be NOTAMs issued about these and above all please be watchful and safe!
