One Oil and Gas Measure Down, Three Continue to Move
As the legislature continues its march toward its 120-day end of session deadline of May 8th, debate on legislative issues is heating up but with the political landscape favoring Democrats, the results of priority issues for Democrats have become predictable. Despite hours of testimony and debate on the very contentious issue of oil and gas this week, there was only one surprise among the several votes and outcomes.
House committees and the full House considered three controversial oil and gas bills this week. NCLA engaged members of the Chambers of Commerce in Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley with a proactive Call to Action directed to northern Colorado members of the House Health, Insurance and Environment Committee including Representatives Joann Ginal, (D-Fort Collins) Stephen Humphrey (R-Severance) and Dave Young (D-Greeley). The Call to Action was coupled with strong testimony from NCLA Board Member, Greeley Mayor Tom Norton.
In this week's NCLA Under the Dome, learn more about the outcome of oil and gas measures. Keep track of introduced legislation and the NCLA's position on bills by linking to NCLA's 2013 Legislative Tracking Report. The NCLA Board of Directors engages in legislation that intersects with the NCLA's 2013 Priority Legislative Agenda.
