What are Molly and Van Up To?  Part II
As you may know, Molly and Van are semi-retired, spending a lot of the summer at their camp in Maine. Next week, though, Van will be making a guest appearance at Where Artifact Meets Exhibition: Preservation and Exhibit Design at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte, NC.  The sessions are meant for curators, exhibit designers, preparators, conservators, registrars, security staff and others involved in exhibition design and installation. The focus will be balancing the needs of today's exhibitions while continuing to protect the the objects on display. The Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts has put together an impressive panel of experts for what should be a very productive and educational event.

The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is dedicated to the exhibition of mid-20th-century modern art. It is named after the family of Andreas Bechtler who assembled and inherited a collection created by seminal figures in modernism.

Say it isn't So!
Elsa Dorfman and her Famous 20 x 24 pPolaroid
In the late 1970s, Polaroid produced 5 giant versions of their standard camera, to demonstrate the quality of the company's large-format film.

The cameras found their true home in the art world, adopted by a number of famous artists (including Elsa Dorfman, above, with whom we've been lucky enough to work for many years). Forty years later, the film's just about used up. How was there even any film left after all this time?  Read about John Reuter and his quest to keep the large Polaroids relevant.

In part because the supply of large format film is dwindling, and in part because of her age,  Elsa Dorfman will be retiring soon. We're so proud to have been associated with her, and we look forward to the upcoming Errol Morris documentary on her life and work.

Archival backing board
We're about to order a truckload of our natural Archival Fluted Polypropylene backer.  It's identical to the name brands (acid-free, neutral pH polypropylene with no dyes or additives) except in price. Ours is cheaper. It's available in 4mm, 6mm and 8mm thicknesses,  by the carton or cut to your specific size.  We usually order mostly 4mm material, but if you foresee a need for large amounts of 6mm or 8mm, please let us know.
