It's Not Easy Being Green

Actually it's not so bad, and it feels great. Over the years we've taken a series of incremental steps to reduce our environmental footprint. We'd be glad to share our experiences any time. Any one of these efforts will benefit the environment, and most of them will also save you money.
Energy Savings Projects:
- Installed photo-voltaic panels producing up to 100 kilowatts of energy with plans to add another 60 kilowatts of capacity this spring!
- Installed highly efficient shop lighting with motion sensors and timers
- Updated to a tank-less hot water system
- Updated heating systems throughout our facility
- Installed additional warehouse ceiling insulation and upgraded powder coat oven insulation. More insulation projects are in the works.
On-going Energy Savings:
- Compost waste wood and cardboard, and recycle excess metal and plastic...all locally!
- Offer customers a paperless online digital catalog
- Donate extra museum cases and picture frames to local historical societies and nonprofits
- Utilize EPA approved Low-VOC coatings and finishes
Even something as small as replacing our continually-warming coffee maker with one that uses insulated carafes and then turnsoff - everything makes a difference. While today is cloudy and overcast in western Massachusetts (see how we are doing here). To date, we have avoided almost 1 million lbs of C02 discharge!

Shorter Lead Times
As promised, we're down to 3-1/2 week lead times for welded aluminum picture frames. Our goal is a consistent 3 week lead time. You'll be happy to know that our acrylic box frame lead time is also 3 weeks. Thanks for bearing with us, and keep those orders coming! Check out our busy metals department to the right. They don't even have time to look up for a picture.
