Greetings!
Welcome to SmallCorp News, our bi-monthly effort to stay in touch and share some of the valuable tips and information we've accumulated in our 40-plus years of manufacturing museum-quality display cases and picture frames. If you find the newsletter useful, please feel free to pass it along to a colleague who might benefit from it, and if you have suggestions on improvements or future topics, don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you again for your association with SmallCorp, we couldn't do it without you. Best regards, Mike Dunphy

Framers Love...
...our aluminum honeycomb mounting panels. They're lightweight and rigid and can serve as a strainer if you like. Use them inside a frame or as a stand-alone mounting surface. They are available in in multiple thicknesses and can be made just about as large as you like.
The surface is anodized aluminum; as an option, we can adhere a 40 point conservation board to the face.
Please call or check our newly revised catalog for pricing.

Featured Product - Tabletop Cases
They range from simple, display boxes with lift-off covers to secure and sealed microclimate cases.
Sealed cases can be outfitted with access doors so you don't have to remove the cover to service your silica gel.
Do you have a large drafty case that houses many small sensitive objects? Consider a case within a case. Use our sealed tabletop cases to protect your most sensitive objects right inside your large exhibit case.

Green Initiatives
We have always chosen materials that both meet our stringent manufacturing requirements and that are environmentally friendly. In recent years, we have greatly expanded our efforts to carry out our business with minimal impact upon the planet. Our commitment to conservation means the conservation of all our resources - natural and cultural. We continue to look for better ways to use resources wisely and preserve our shared cultural heritage.
This spring we thoroughly re-insulated our powdercoat oven, and this fall we're planning to re-insulate our entire shop. These steps will greatly reduce the amount of energy we consume and thereby benefit our environment.
Our peak solar energy-generating season is nearing an end, but we expect to generate more energy than we use again this year. See how we're doing right now

It Takes A Village
Tomorrow at 9 AM the Franklin County Technical School will unveil its new Machine Technology Program with a ribbon cutting ceremony, tour of the facility, and demonstration of its new high tech machinery.
SmallCorp is among a number of local businesses that contributed to the new facility. Technical education is on the decline in the United States, despite manufacturers' need for better-prepared and educated craftspeople. Our support for local education will benefit us, other manufacturers, and the community we live in.

Blowing our own Horn
We recently delivered a wall case outfitted with LED lighting and SmartGlass to Smith College. SPD SmartGlass technology darkens the glass when visitors are not present, and lightens it for viewing. The SmartGlass can be activated by motion sensor or with the push of a button. Even with LED spotlights, the case will dramatically reduce the amount of light to which the objects inside are exposed.

Real Art in Atlantic City
Robert Barry's Untitled, 2012 is just one of many installations that are part of Artlantic, a series of public artworks, installed in phases over five years, organized by independent curator Lance Fung. "I wanted something that spoke to the nature that's missing here. Pine barrens were eradicated to make way for the city," Fung says. "The city's vacant lots presented an ideal opportunity."
