Long time Cycle the WAVE sponsor Therapeutic Associates opened its newest clinic last September and you may recognize the clinic Director/Owner - Dan Anderson PT, DPT.  Dan has volunteered with CtW since its inception as part of the ride support team, finish line, command central, set-up, clean-up and physical therapy support - he's done it all.  In fact, Dan has been a part of the WAVE family from the beginning as his mom Sharon Anderson is the founder of CtW.  Dan is an advocate of our mission and he's a trusted friend and supporter of many WAVE volunteers and riders. Dan says "The WAVE Foundation is a positive force in our community and I feel lucky to play a small role in their mission to Brake the Cycle!"

Not Your Average Cycling Jersey...
Meet the Fashionistas who Bring Panache and Fun to Cycle the WAVE!

What happens when you put a couple of dreamers with design savvy together in the same room? MAGIC...or, in other words, a Cycle the WAVE "signature" jersey!

These original creations, now in their eighth year, are by Deborah Taylor and Val Davis. From their first collaboration in 2009, these two artistic athletes have had synergy and style. The result is that so many have felt their impact. WAVE riders have eye-catching, unique, fun and flattering jerseys to enjoy, whether cycling or not. Wearing these jerseys creates awareness for the cause of domestic violence. Additionally, sales of each year's "signature" jersey are a source of fundraising for Cycle the WAVE.

Deborah Taylor is a founding member of Cycle the WAVE as well as the Lakemont Ladies Cycling Club. She enjoys mentoring new cyclists and competing in triathlons, so she really knows about fitness and what active women like to wear. Deborah holds an undergraduate degree in Art and has always loved drawing. She also believes that she has the biggest colored pencil collection in the Lakemont area...and maybe even the Eastside!

Val Davis, also a cycling enthusiast, experienced her first Cycle the WAVE in 2009 and has been a dedicated WAVE rider ever since. She is an expert seamstress and quilter, including ten years as a quilting teacher. Val is completely self-taught and has won top awards in 4H sewing. She also has a keen eye for fashion, working at Nordstrom and appreciates the beauty of color and quality fabrics.

Pedal Against Trafficking Humans (PATH) Ride

This year's PATH ride is Saturday, March 26th at 9am in Seward Park, Seattle, and WAVE supporters get $10 off on advance registration price during February 1-14 by using code WAVEPATH when registering online.  A portion of the funds generated is given to The WAVE Foundation, so let's see another great turnout on the early season super fun south Lake Washington ride.
"Brake the Cycle" in 2016!

The education and awareness part of The WAVE Foundation is called "Braking the Cycle".  We have once again received a generous grant from Verizon to continue with this program.  TWF Board member Elizabeth Salvo is looking for advocates who would like to join the "Braking the Cycle" team to help shape our mission, message and methods.  It is a fun, creative and empowering environment where we brainstorm ideas to create ways to spread education and awareness about domestic violence and how to foster healthy relationships.  With your help, we can 'brake' the cycle of abuse!
Check out our cool new video and then come and join us!

CtW Training Programs Announced

Get prepared to ride the big event with coach Mary Craig, long time CtW rider, published author, professional coach and owner of LIVE ALIVE FIT.  New for 2016, we are offering a "Girly Girl Training Program" as well as a newly added "Advanced Skills & Technique" program for those ready to take it to the next level!  Please look for more information in the March newsletter and on the website.
