Welcome Kimberly!
Please meet The WAVE Foundation's new Executive Director, Kimberly Buchan. We are excited to have Kimberly as part of the WAVE team!  She has experience in the non-profit & political world, and brings her passion and enthusiasm for new challenges to growing TWF. Kimberly is originally from Iowa, and has lived in Iceland and London, moved to Seattle in 2010 for the progressive food culture.  She enjoys cooking, playing tennis, volunteering, spending time with her boyfriend and puppy.
It's Been Confirmed!
Bellevue College will be the new venue for the 7th Annual Cycle the WAVE event on September 14th.  We are excited about this location - it gives us room to grow, offers new route opportunities, plenty of parking and the ability to increase awareness of domestic violence in the community.  We are anticipating a beautiful relationship with Peggy Strader, Events Coordinator, and Bellevue College!  Peggy, pictured right cheering on our 2012 cyclists, is "looking forward to hosting Cycle the WAVE in 2014".
New Website Unveiled
We have consolidated our websites into one: The WAVE Foundation! After a few hiccups and hurdles the new look is live and running.  You will find info about TWF - our events (which includes CtW), grant info, etc.  Cycle the WAVE has its own tab on the menu bar with pertinent information for our upcoming ride with buttons to link you quickly to register, volunteer and fundraise.  The Boutique includes pictures of jersey and arm warmers although is currently "under construction".
Facebook allows us to interact with our followers in real time and has allowed us to give you the most up to date information regarding the website and registering for CtW, along with lots of cycling tips, and domestic violence awareness info.  Please "Like" us!
Bags & Baubles
The WAVE Foundation will be at the NW Women's Show on Sunday March 23rd from 10am until 1pm selling gently used purses, belts, jewelry and other fashion accessories.  If you have any of these items cluttering your closet, drop them off at Union Bank Lakemont or contact Melody@cyclethewave.org for more drop off info. Support TWF by dropping off items for sale and/or shopping at the Show!
Active Ambassadors At it Again...
City Ambassadors are busy promoting CtW!  You may have talked with them at Gregg's Cycle Women on Wheels or at Cascade Bicycle Club's Bike Expo. Many of you stopped by our booth to thank us for our work, and express interest in the grant program. One of our premier Outreach Ambassadors, Windsor, gave a well-received talk at Bike Expo on gaining confidence while riding. We were also at Bellevue College for Domestic Violence Awareness Week and met many staff and students! We are modeling our new jerseys at events and while riding!
TAI Sponsors Free Bike Fit Lecture
Bike Fit is a free lecture (March 20th, 7:30pm) taught by our experts at Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy. Presenter Bart Hawkinson will teach basics of adjusting your bike to fit properly. Whether you are a recreational rider or a serious racer, a proper Cycle Fit will allow you to maximize cycling performance, while minimizing potential injuries. Experts will teach how a well-fit bike should feel, how to make basic adjustments to your own bike, and how to determine if you are in need of a comprehensive assessment and bike fit.
Space is limited, so please RSVP at 206.361.4745.
