Precinct Inspectors Needed
If you have ever wondered how to become more active in government, there are plenty of opportunities for you that do not involve running for elected office. The City of Alma is looking for interested people to become precinct inspectors.
Precinct inspectors are people who are paid to assist voters at the polls on Election Day. Registered voters interested in serving as precinct inspectors need to submit a precinct inspector application to the City Clerk's office. In addition to their name, address and date of birth, applicants must include their political party preference and qualifications to fill the position such as education or experience. Computer experience is required. A precinct inspector must be a registered voter of the State. They cannot be a challenger, candidate, member of a candidate's immediate family, or a member of the local Board of Canvassers. Anyone convicted of a felony or an election crime may not serve.
If you are interested in serving, please feel free to download and complete the application and return it to Barb Gager, City Clerk at City Hall. If you have any questions, please phone 989-463-8336 or email bgager@ci.alma.mi.us.

Water Conservation Tips
-
When doing laundry, match the water level to the size of the load.
-
Washing dark clothes in cold water saves water and energy, and helps your clothes retain their color.
-
When shopping for a new washing machine, compare resource savings among Energy Star models. Some can save up to 20 gallons of water per load.
-
Have a plumber re-route your greywater to trees and plants rather than the sewer line. Check with your city and county for codes.
-
When buying a washer, check the Consortium for Energy Efficiency website to compare water use between models
